University College at Fairfield University offers Manhattan Art Tours of fine, decorative and antique art galleries

With spring just around the corner, Manhattan's myriad art galleries are gearing up for their new exhibits. University College at Fairfield University invites you to join an expert to tour some of the hotspots in the city's art scene.

Image: Joyce Zimmerman Joyce Zimmerman, a longtime Connecticut resident who has worked as an art advisor to corporations and collectors specializing in Connecticut artists, will take participants on an exploration of Manhattan's ever-changing art world. The itinerary of unique and unusual places will feature new stops, as well as old favorites that have been visited by previous University College Manhattan Art Tour classes. The behind-the-scenes viewings provide a wonderful learning experience for both the novice and educated art and interior design enthusiast.

"I love the challenge of planning these tours to pique the interest of first-timers as well as the many returning participants," Zimmerman said.

Among the sites that will be toured are: the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of the City of New York, the Conservatory Garden in Central Park, and a private collection. Participants are required to meet their group in New York at the starting point of each tour.

University College is offering two sections of the course. Participants can attend from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays from March 17 through May 19 or Thursdays from March 18 through May 20.

Each session consists of visits to galleries for morning and afternoon tours and lectures by house experts. A complete schedule will be sent to participants upon their registration.

The cost of the course is $275. To register by phone, call (203) 254-4288; for more information call (203) 254-4307 or visit www.fairfield.edu.
