What: Fairfield University will host a press conference with Steve Forbes, a widely respected economics prognosticator and former presidential candidate. The press conference will precede his lecture, "The Economy and The Price of Freedom: Global and Domestic," which is sponsored by the Open VISIONS Forum, a program of University College at Fairfield University.

When: The press conference is Monday, Oct. 27, at 6:45 p.m. Lecture begins at 7:30 p.m.

Forbes is president and chief executive officer at Forbes and editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine, the nation's leading business magazine with a circulation of 850,000. Well-known for his insightful economic forecasts, Forbes also ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 1996 and 2000, vigorously championing a platform that included a flat tax, medical savings accounts, parental choice in schools and a strong national defense. "Creating personal wealth - not redistributing it - should be one of America's highest priorities as we move into the new century," he wrote in his 1999 book, "A New Birth of Freedom."
