A $30,000 gift from The Copeland Family Foundation in Milton, Mass., will help Fairfield University take a major leap forward in its video production curriculum. Under the direction of James Mayzik, S.J., director of the Media Center, the funds will be used to develop a new nonlinear editing suite that will feature the Avid Media Composer Adrenaline editing/effects system, the premiere tool of choice for professional film and television production companies.
Fr. Mayzik said the new equipment will enhance many of the production courses offered by the Media Center. "It's always exciting to have the equipment that matches the creativity and potential of our students," he said. "This new editing and effects system raises the level of professional competence our students can achieve in video production."
The Media Center utilizes its professional staff and students in projects and has garnered several awards for its work. In June, The Aurora Awards 2003 notified the Media Center that its video, "Find It At Fairfield," produced for the Admission Office, was selected for a Gold Award. Designed to recognize excellence in the film and video industries, the Aurora Awards is an international competition for private and corporate production groups.
