Stephanie M. Fernandez of Monroe, Conn., awarded prize in psychology

Stephanie M. Fernandez of Monroe, Conn., was honored with the Rev. Thomas A. McGrath, S.J. Psychology Award at the College of Arts & Sciences Awards Ceremony. She was selected for the award based on superior undergraduate academic achievement both in psychology and the broader areas of education, and received a commemorative medallion as well as a cash award. The award was established to honor Father Thomas McGrath, a beloved professor who significantly affected the growth and development of the Psychology Department at Fairfield.

Stephanie, who graduated cum laude in May with a bachelor of science degree in psychology, also minored in applied ethics. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious academic honor society, as well as Psy Chi, the national psychology honor society, and Alpha Mu Gamma, the national foreign language honor society.
