Quick Center and Missoula Theatre present "Red Riding Hood" | Press Releases

Image: Red Riding Hood Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts presents the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) fourth production of the summer, "Red Riding Hood," on Fridays, Aug. 17 and 24, at 7 p.m., and Saturdays, Aug. 18 and 25, at 11 a.m. in the Quick Center's Kelley Theatre. This production is written and conceived by MCT's Michael McGill, who also wrote the music.

Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house she goes. Red Riding Hood, not so little anymore, and her pre-teen pals try to stay on the straight and narrow in MCT's latest adventure. The Big Bad Wolf, who is not so bad after all, and a friendly neighborhood Forest Ranger urge our Heros to stay true to the path for, in the shadows, lurk diversions and a sinister surprise or two.

A pack of woefully nasty young wolves and a handsome Woodsman, too good to be true, are a must for this story. And, we can't have a wolf tale without Three Little Pigs and even a Boy Who Cries...you guessed it! With help from her family and a loyal young locksmith (he carries the key), Red finds her Grandma and a whole lot more. Now if only she could retrieve her picnic basket from those rascally raccoons. See what happens when you stray from the trail!

The nation's preeminent professional children's theater company, Missoula Children's Theatre, a nonprofit organization based in Missoula, Montana, has been touring extensively throughout the United States and abroad for 27 years, serving more than 300 communities each year.

A variety of parts for children in grades 1-12 is provided in each production, and middle and high school students are encouraged to audition for leading roles. The children attending the Quick Center's Summer Theatre camp for the week prior to the production play most roles and also attend workshops in dance, theater, puppetry, arts and crafts and creative movement as part of the camp experience.
