Members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band embody the living Louisiana history of New Orleans jazz. In celebration of their home venue’s anniversary, the band will perform Pass it On: 60th Anniversary Music Celebration on Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band has shared Coachella and other festival stages for spirited performances with legends like Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello, and the Grateful Dead, and with modern giants like the Foo Fighters, Tom Waits, the Dave Matthews Band, and the Black Keys.

In the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, what is now called Preservation Hall has been providing intimate and authentic performances since the 1950s. The venue traditionally served as a rare space in the South where racially integrated jazz bands and audiences could come together during the Jim Crow era. Nightly Preservation Hall jazz concerts gained global recognition when the bands began touring in 1963, reaching as far as Japan.

What an honor to present Preservation Hall Jazz Band as part of their 60th anniversary celebration, and to welcome them for the first time onto the Quick Center stage,” said Lori Jones, Quick Center director of programming and audience development. “This ensemble has not only toured the globe as ambassadors of New Orleans jazz, but they share the culture and history of Black and American music.”

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band performance at 8 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the Quick Center is supported, in part, by WPKN 89.5, 1 Team Digital, and Silverman Group. Tickets are on sale now for $50 at quickcenter.com, or by contacting the Quick Center Box Office at 203-254-4010, Monday through Friday, from 12 to 5 p.m.
