In addition to a 8-2 victory for the hometown team, Fairfield University Night at Yankee Stadium brought students, alumni, parents, friends, faculty and staff together, including President Mark R. Nemec, PhD, and his wife Suzy.
Dr. Nemec was joined for a pre-game ceremony, featured on the YES Network, by Chair of the Board of Trustees Frank J. Carroll III ’89, Vice President for Marketing and Communications Jennifer Anderson '97, MBA’02, and Lucas the Stag. Lucas also spent time in the Great Hall greeting and posing for photos with fans as they entered the Stadium.
“Fairfield University is thrilled that these events provide an opportunity for so many members of our community to come together to not only enjoy a great game, but to celebrate being a Stag,” said Jennifer Anderson. “The New York Yankees provided us with a wonderful game-day experience, and I am so pleased that Fairfield was able to reciprocate with so many people in attendance.”
The 810 tickets sold to Fairfield fans, which included four busloads of current students, was the second-highest total in the Yankees’ “College Nights” series this season. The Stags outsold institutions including Fordham, Maryland, Michigan, and Rutgers. Fairfield fans in attendance received an exclusive, co-branded New York Yankees/Fairfield Stags baseball cap.
Friday night’s game marked the third annual Fairfield University Night at a Major League Baseball game in New York City. The Stags visited the Mets’ Citi Field in 2015 and 2016.
