Women’s Golf Captures Back-to-Back Tournament Titles
The Stags shot a collective 640 (326-314) at the ECAC Championship while junior Olivia Brooks seized the women’s individual title with an overall score of 154 (79-75). Less than a week later, Senior Katie Rockwell achieved the Delaware State Invitational individual title with a score of 148 (70-78) and paced the Stags to a collective two-day team score of 630 (305-325).
Senior Emma Ritzmann earned ECAC All-Tournament Team accolades after shooting a second round score of 81, to record a final 161, and place fifth overall. Senior Katie Rockwell(163)completed the tournament in sixth place overalland sophomore teammate Danielle Dalessandro (164) finished in ninth place overall. Junior Michelle Applegate rounded out play for Fairfield, carding a pair of 83s to finish in 10th overall.
At the Invitational, three other Stags finished in the top-10. Junior Michelle Applegate carded an overall 160 (76-84) to finish in fifth while classmate Olivia Brooks took three strokes off her first round score to finish one stroke behind Applegate and tie for sixth. Senior Emma Ritzmann tallied a two-day score of 162 (77-85) to finish in ninth overall. Rounding out Fairfield’s effort was Sara Quinn who finished in 22nd place overall with a score of 181 (97-84).
The Fairfield women’s golf team will return to the course on October 10-11 when the Stags head to Piscataway, N.J. to compete at the Rutgers Invitational at the Rutgers Golf Course.
