"The Ethics of Water" at next Fairfield Ethics Breakfast Nov. 19
“Water is the oil of the 21st century.” This statement underscores the vital role of water in our lives – locally and globally. As the world demand for clean, safe water exceeds the supply, what will this mean for residents in Fairfield? That’s the timely subject of a November breakfast ethics discussion co-sponsored by the University’s Center for Applied Ethics and The Rotary Club of Fairfield. George S. Logan, director, Environmental Management & Government Relations for the Aquarian Water Company, and Dr. Bruce Berdanier, dean of the School of Engineering, are the panelists for this event, which is free and open to the public.
“The Ethics of Water: Safety and Sustainability” begins on Wednesday, November 19, with coffee and a light breakfast at 7:15 a.m. at the Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road. This is the continuation of a highly successful series of public ethics discussions that began in 2012. “Ethics is on everyone’s mind today,” said Dr. Schmidt, who is also a faculty member in the University’s Dolan School of Business. “The focus this year on the ethics of water will heighten our awareness of issues related to water use and development that will become even more important to Fairfield residents in the coming years.”
