The Stags Win! Advance in MAAC Baseball Championship, 1:30 TODAY

The top-seeded Fairfield University baseball team opened Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship play on Wednesday evening with a 12-1 victory over Iona. The Stags, who will continue playoff action on Friday, plated 12 runs and rode a strong pitching performance from John Signore ’19 to the convincing win over the Gaels.

Following Wednesday's victory in Niagara Falls, Fairfield remains in the winner’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament. The Stags return to the diamond at 1:30 p.m. on Friday to challenge second-seeded Marist with the winner advancing directly to Saturday’s MAAC Championship Final. All of this weekend's action is slated to be streamed live on MAAC.TV.

The Stags are 31-22 overall and went 17-7 in conference play to claim their second consecutive MAAC Regular Season Title. Last spring, Head Coach Bill Currier guided Fairfield to the 2016 MAAC Championship and their first-ever NCAA postseason appearance.
