The 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Basketball Championships are underway at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. The Stags will be back on the court this Saturday with both the men's and women's teams in action in the Quarterfinal round.
After completing the regular season with a win over Iona last Sunday to secure their 12th straight 10-win MAAC campaign, Fairfield Women's Basketball is the postseason's fourth-seeded team. The Stags will challenge fifth-seeded Rider in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online via Ticketmaster or by calling 518-487-2000. Should the Stags advance, they will play a semifinal game on Sunday, March 4 at 11 a.m. against either top-seeded Quinnipiac or ninth-seeded Monmouth.
Fairfield Men's Basketball opened its postseason on Thursday evening as First Team All-MAAC standout and the program's all-time leading scorer Tyler Nelson '18 netted 28 points to lead the Stags past Marist, 71-57. The Stags advance to the quarterfinal round to meet third-seeded Niagara on Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase at FairfieldStags.com/TIX. The winner of Saturday's contest between the Stags and the Purple Eagles will move on to a semifinal game on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
Fairfield Athletics will host a pregame reception for Stags fans from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the exhibition hall at Times Union Center. There will be free appetizers and soft drinks as well as a cash bar. Fans must have a game ticket for entry to the exhibition hall.
