Students, faculty, and staff of Fairfield University’s Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies and the Center for Faith and Public Life will welcome fellow Catholic Health Association (CHA) members and regional partner organizations to campus on Monday, April 16.
International outreach will be the focus of this one-day meeting, as participants discuss activities, practices, cautionary information, and potential collaboration.
“This is such a wonderful opportunity for Fairfield University to highlight to CHA and its members the work that our faculty and students are doing internationally in the field of health and humanitarian action, as well as to showcase the state-of-the-art Egan School facilities,” stated Julie Mughal, associate director of The Center for Faith and Public Life.
Comprised of more than 600 hospitals and 1,600 long-term care and other health facilities in all 50 states, the Catholic health ministry is deemed the largest group of nonprofit health care providers in the nation. These organizations join together as the CHA of the United States to raise a collective voice for compassionate care.
The April 16 gathering will focus on global outreach and humanitarian response work while facilitating raised awareness about CHA research. Research studies include resources and tools for appropriate short-term medical mission trips, surplus donations, and overall international outreach activities including disaster response.
The afternoon session of the gathering will showcase Fairfield’s expertise collaborating with CHA’s international outreach efforts. Participants will also be introduced to the Egan School’s state-of-the-art simulation lab. This event is being offered at no cost to those currently supporting international initiatives, as well as relevant colleagues from sponsoring congregations, higher education, finance, governance, clinical operations and others who are champions of this work.
Mughal continued, “The gathering is an opportunity for CHA members, Fairfield faculty, staff and students, and partner organizations from across the Connecticut and New York region to collectively discuss our international outreach efforts. We are honored that CHA has chosen us as the venue for their upcoming International Outreach gathering. ”
