Host of BBC World News America and contributor to Morning Joe will appear at the Quick Center for the Arts on Thursday, February 22.

Journalist, author, and TV host Katty Kay is coming to the Quick Center for the Arts on Thursday, February 22 for the popular Fairfield University series, Open VISIONS Forum. Admired for her wit, humor, and intelligence, Kay will share her unique outsider’s perspective on events in Washington, including the risks and opportunities of America’s current foreign and domestic policy agendas.

Born in the UK to a diplomatic family, raised in the Middle East, and following a career in journalism that has taken her around the globe, Kay has a broad worldview. She joined the BBC in 1990 as a field correspondent in Zimbabwe, where she had been living and working for an aid agency. Kay's coverage of the end of apartheid in South Africa helped launch her career, eventually leading to a post as Tokyo correspondent with BBC News. In 1999 Kay moved to Washington, D.C. to be a correspondent for The Times of London. She made the jump back to BBC a few years later as the Washington Correspondent for BBC World News America, becoming lead anchor in 2011.

Kay is a frequent contributor to Meet the Press and Morning Joe. In addition to her success in broadcast journalism, she is a regular guest host for the Diane Rehm Show on NPR and co-author of The New York Times bestsellers WOMENOMICS and THE CONFIDENCE CODE: The Science and Art of Self Assurance -- What Women Should Know. At Fairfield University, Kay will zero in on hot button issues on the American scene such as Presidential overreach, congressional ineffectiveness, diplomatic dustups, and global terrorism, while offering insights into the headlines shaping the news.

The Open VISIONS Forum is Fairfield University’s signature lecture series, bringing diverse perspectives and world views from across the political and cultural landscape to engage in public discourse in an informal academic setting. Noted guests have included fashion educator and TV star Tim Gunn, satirist P.J. O’Rourke, activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and tennis star James Blake.

The Open VISIONS Forum with Kay will take place on Thursday, February 22 at 8 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Delamar & Spa, Moffly Media, TVEyes, and WSHU. Tickets are $35 | $27 for Quick Center Members, and $5 for Fairfield University students.
