Team EarnSpace will pitch its plug-in software that integrates advertisements into Zoom meetings.
Returning Showcase competitor John Cain ’22 of the School of Engineering has teamed up with fellow computer science classmates Rian Boutin ’22, Andrew Caplan ’21, Nyomi Holmes ’22, and Bibek Timalsina ’22. The group makes up EarnSpace, a Zoom plug-in and web app that allows for the integration of advertisements into conference calls in order to reach broader audiences in an increasingly virtual world.
“We thought it would be really interesting to develop a business idea related to an industry that has been disrupted by the pandemic,” explained Cain. “EarnSpace is one of the ideas we came up with in our software design class. So far we haven’t seen anything like it.”
The team of five chose Zoom because the platform has the most support for programmers. Cain and his team are currently working with their mentors and focused on customer segmentation as they identify who will benefit from their app. They plan to launch EarnSpace with Fairfield students and local businesses and scale from there.
