Anna-Maria Aksan, PhD, associate professor of economics, had her paper “Son Preference and the Fertility Squeeze in India” accepted for publication in Journal of Demographic Economics.

Mousumi Bhattacharya, PhD, associate professor of management, moderated student research Zoom presentations as part of the annual Fairfield University Innovative Research Symposium. Dr. Bhattacharya was faculty mentor to these students as part of the management capstone course that she teaches.

Rebecca Bloch, PhD, associate professor of accounting and department chair, had three co-authored articles accepted for publication. “Examining the gap between accounting academics and practitioners and possible ways to bridge it” was accepted for publication in the Tennessee CPA Journal; “Interlocking Boards in Nonprofit Organizations” was accepted for publication in Accounting Horizons; "Market Reaction to ADRs Quarterly Earnings: The GAAP Effect” was accepted for publication in the Journal of Business and Economic Studies, co-authored with Bruce Bradford, PhD, associate professor of accounting, and Ahmed Ebrahim, PhD, associate professor of accounting.

Catherine Giapponi, PhD, associate professor of management, was named the 2020 Fairfield University Alpha Sigma Nu Undergraduate Teacher of the Year for her dedication to the teaching profession and support for students.

Scott Hiller, PhD, associate professor of economics, had his paper “Tariff Pass-Through and Welfare in the Tablet Computer Market” accepted for publication in Journal of Industrial Economics.

Gregory Koutmos, PhD, Gerald M. Levin Chair and professor of finance, published the paper “Financial Crises and the Asymmetric Relation Between Returns on Banks, Risk Factors, and Other Industry Portfolio Returns," co-authored with K. Hogholm, J. Knif, and S. Pynonnen, in the Financial Review.

Phil Lane, PhD, associate professor of economics, was quoted in the News 8 WTNH.com article “As national unemployment rates break records, the future of small businesses in CT are uncertain amid coronavirus crisis.”

Dawn W. Massey, PhD, CPA, professor of accounting, had her paper, "The association between vertical equity and presidential voting behavior and taxpayers' compliance," co-authored with Jonathan Farrar, Errol Osecki, and Linda Thorne, accepted for publication in Journal of Business Ethics.

Philip Maymin, PhD, professor and director of Fairfield Dolan’s Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program, published the viewpoint article, "Coronabias and Fat Tail,” with Investment & Pensions Europe. The article also appeared in the Fairfield University ThinkSpace blog.

Michael McDonald, PhD, associate professor of finance, Michael Puleo, PhD, assistant professor of finance, and Steven Kozlowski, PhD, assistant professor of finance, had their paper “Share-pledging and the Cost of Debt” accepted for publication in Accounting & Finance.

Iman Naderi, PhD, associate professor of marketing, had his paper “Product Design Matters, But Is It Enough? Consumers’ Responses to Product Design and Environment Congruence,” co-authored with Ehsan Naderi (University of Minnesota) and Bimal Balakrishnan (University of Missouri-Columbia), accepted for publication in Journal of Product & Brand Management.

Michael Puleo, PhD, assistant professor of finance, was quoted in two Bloomberg News articles about corporate executives pledging shares amid the coronavirus economic crisis: “Wealthy Facing Margin Calls Show Pitfalls of Pledged Shares” and “SoftBank’s Son is Betting on Himself After Go-Private Talks.” Dr. Puleo also had his paper “Insider Share-pledging and Equity Risk” accepted for publication in Journal of Financial Services Research.

Katsiaryna Salavei Bardos, PhD, associate professor of finance, was selected as one of the inaugural Hartwick College Wick 40 Under 40. She also had two papers accepted for publication: “Corporate Social Responsibility, Product Market Perception and Firm Value,” co-authored with Mine Ertugrul and Lucia Gao, in Journal of Corporate Finance and “Stock Price Reaction to Being Named an International Sustainability Leader,” co-authored with Neeraj Gupta and Linda Hughes in The International Journal of Sustainability in Economic, Social, and Cultural Context.

Dr. Bardos was also quoted in the following two articles: “Why buying a home can be a smart move during a recession” published by The Lenders Network and “Will mortgage rates plummet after COVID-19? Mortgage rate predictions for late-2020” published by The Mortgage Reports.

Norm Solomon, PhD, professor of management, along with W. Mackenzie Jr., R. Scherer, and T. Wilkinson, published the article “A Systematic Review of AACSB International Accreditation Quality and Value Research” in the Journal of Economic and Administrative Sciences.
