Bennett Center for Judaic Studies Daniel Pearl World Music Days Presents: David Broza

World-renowned Israeli singer-songwriter, multi-platinum album artist, and activist David Broza will headline this year’s Daniel Pearl World Music Days Program.

The event will occur on Sunday, October 1 at 4 p.m. at Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

Broza’s music reflects a fusion of the three countries where he grew up: Israel, Spain and England combining Flamenco and Rock & Roll styles. In 2013, Broza started the East Jerusalem West Jerusalem project that brought together musicians from Israel and Palestine to record music for eight days. The music created during this project combines the different cultures, languages and musical styles of the artists. The collaboration can be seen in the documentary, East Jerusalem West Jerusalem , which will be screened at the Daniel Pearl World Music Days event, followed by a Q&A with and performance by David Broza.

In addition to his vibrant music career, Broza is involved in a wide variety of humanitarian projects focusing on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His song, “Yihye Tov,” is often used to promote a message of peace.

Open to the public, the event is part of the Daniel Pearl World Music Days Concert series that honors the life and legacy of the slain journalist. Pearl’s parents created this musical series to reflect Daniel’s own belief (as a skilled violinist) that music can bring people together.

Fairfield University’s Bennett Center for Judaic Studies is co-sponsoring the concert with the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County in collaboration with the Jewish Arts & Film Festival of Fairfield County . Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Quick Center for the Arts at (203) 254-4010 or online .

The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts is located on the campus of Fairfield University at 1073 North Benson Road in Fairfield, Connecticut.
