Stags to host Hofstra at Alumni Hall to benefit hurricane relief efforts

Fairfield Men’s Basketball will host Hofstra University in a special exhibition on Monday, October 23, to raise funds for hurricane relief efforts following the recent natural disasters that have affected residents in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off on campus at Fairfield's George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall.

Tickets are available for advanced purchase through FairfieldStags.com/TIX . Fans can purchase $10 adult general admission (including faculty and staff), $8 senior, or $5 youth (12 and under) tickets. Admission is free for Fairfield University students, but all are encouraged to make a donation if attending the game. As this special exhibition is a fundraiser, admission is not included in Fairfield Basketball season ticket packages.

One hundreed percent of ticket sales will benefit Save the Children, which is based in Fairfield. Save the Children believes every child deserves a future. In the United States and around the world, Save the Children provides a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn, and protection from harm. Additionally, in partnership with Fairfield University's Center for Faith and Public Life, bins will be located in the lobby of Alumni Hall to collect new backpacks, school supplies, and gift cards to assist persons displaced from Puerto Rico who have recently enrolled for classes in the Bridgeport public school system.

Another highlight of the weekend will feature the official welcome of Fairfield University President Mark R. Nemec, PhD, into the Friends of Fairfield Rugby. The ceremony will be held on Grauert Field at 12:15 p.m. as a part of Rugby Fest, an event featuring men's and women's alumni games and exhibition youth games with children from local towns. President Nemec was an All-Ivy League rugby player as an undergraduate at Yale University and has played competitively for more than 20 years.

These are two of several events happening on campus this weekend as a part of Alumni & Family Weekend, including home games for Fairfield women's soccer, volleyball, and field hockey. To view a complete schedule or for more information, visit www.fairfield.edu/afw .
