Lucas the Stag Appears in ESPN Commercial

Fairfield University mascot Lucas the Stag was a featured guest on a national ESPN commercial, which premiered during the network’s Monday Night Football broadcast on Dec. 21, 2015. The commercial has since aired consistently on the ESPN family of networks, including during NBA games on Christmas Day and the College Football Playoff semifinals on New Year's Eve.

In addition to the millions of viewers to see Lucas on ESPN, his presence was notable on Fairfield social media platforms with posts reaching more than 65,000 people across official University and Athletics accounts.

Fairfield University is slated to broadcast five Stags basketball games – beginning with a Jan. 11 visit from Monmouth – as well as the March 12 men’s lacrosse clash with in-state foe Yale on ESPN3 this season. Fairfield basketball will also be featured several times on ESPN3 both at home and on the road as a part of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s broadcast schedule.

Lucas’ presence in the national advertisement is the latest in a series of public appearances for Fairfield’s beloved mascot. Since debuting his new look this past August, Lucas has thrown out the first pitch prior to a New York Mets game at Citi Field, appeared on NBC’s Today Show and surfed the crowd at a Matt & Kim concert during Alumni and Family Weekend.
