Fall in Love With the Arts This Fall at Fairfield

The arts come to life this fall at Fairfield starting with the Quick Center for the Arts 25 th anniversary season, kicking off on Saturday September 19, 2015. Emmy Award-winning television talk show host and journalist Charlie Rose will join us for dinner at the Artisan at Delamar Southport, followed by cocktails at the Walsh Art Gallery.

The evening will conclude with an interview with Rose on the Quick Center Stage to kick-off the Open VISIONS Forum lecture series. Ticket sales from the evening will support the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts Education and Outreach Fund, a program that enables youth and families to engage in Quick Center performances, classes and workshops.

“We are fortunate to be able to offer the community an exciting season of live performances and lectures including the world premiere of a newly commissioned work celebrating the Quick Center’s anniversary by composer Gwyneth Walker and the Connecticut Trio, to engaging and thoughtful interviews and lectures with some of the brightest voices in their fields such as Tim Gunn, Charles Best, Donatella Arpaia and Judith Jamison, ” said Peter Van Heerden, Executive Director of The Quick Center.

You can also experience the arts on campus this fall at the Thomas J. Walsh Art Gallery and Bellarmine Museum of Art. The Walsh Art Gallery will present its new exhibition “DANCE: Marc Mellon, Jane Sutherland, Philip Trager”on view from Friday, September 18, 2015 through Friday, January 15, 2016. DANCE will explore the rich relationship between the sister arts of dance, sculpture, painting and photography at the Walsh Art Gallery.

The season rounds out with new exhibition “Hair in the Classical World” at Bellarmine Museum of Art from October 7 through December 18, 2015. As the first exhibition of its kind in the United States, the showing will take you on a historical journey through ancient Greece, Cyprus, and Rome, examining the role of hair in each culture.
