Calling all Classical Music lovers: Young Artists Series at the Quick

Come experience classical piano at the Quick featuring the winner of the Fifth New York International Piano Competition, Kate Liu. Liu will take the stage on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. as the first performer in the series, followed by two additional young artists who will visit the Quick this spring.

As part of The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation’s Young Artists Series, Liu has performed at many prestigious clubs and venues around New York including SubCulture, Salmagundi Club, Ossining Library, Bohemian Club and Temple Emanu-El. Born in Singapore in 1994, Liu began playing the piano when she was four years old and moved to the United States when she was eight. In 2010 she became the First Prize-Winner at the Fifth New York International Piano Competition, a biennial event presented under the auspices of The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation, at the age of 16.

Hailed by The Washington Post as “a pianist with a burgeoning talent and a musical poise well beyond her years. She is already a pianist worth leaving home to hear.”

“The pianists in our Young Artists Series are among the best young performers in the world,” said Fairfield University President Rev. Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J. “Fairfield University is delighted to collaborate with the New York International Piano Competition and the Stecher and Horowitz Foundation to host these artists at the Quick Center, and present them to our community.”

Tickets are free, however reservations are strongly suggested as seating is limited. For tickets, visit the Quick Center website or call the Box Office at 203-254-4010 or toll free at 1-877-ARTS-396.
