Father Allen Named Chamber’s Fairfield Distinguished Citizen of the Year

Once again, the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce chose to hold its Annual Meeting and Dinner event on campus at the Dolan School of Business. However, this year's event will be extra-special: Rev. Charles Allen, S.J. , university chaplain and special assistant to the president, will be honored as the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year at the event on Thursday, June 26, at 6 p.m. in the DSB dining room.

In addition to the Distinguished Citizen Award presentation, George Szondy, president & CEO of Abbey Tent & Party Rentals, has been selected to receive the Corporate Citizen of the Year Award. The keynote speaker for the evening will be Chris Bruhl, president and CEO of the Business Council of Fairfield, who will discuss economic issues and business trends in Fairfield County.

Beverly A. Balaz, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce said, “The Chamber recognizes that where we live and work includes a strong combination of outstanding citizens and businesses. As such, that's what makes Fairfield such a wonderful town. Therefore, this year, the Chamber initiated two new awards to be presented annually.  We are delighted to recognize these two very special individuals, and we are pleased that Chris Bruhl will be joining us as well for the evening. We hope that their friends, colleagues, and associates will attend to honor and congratulate the award recipients. This 68th meeting will be an especially exciting event,” Balaz noted.

The University is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and all University employees may attend this annual meeting. Tickets are $65 per person. Click here to register .
