Fairfield Named One of "35 Best College Values in New England"

Fairfield University has been recognized as one of the 35 Best College Values in New England, 2014 ” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. Fairfield University joins a distinguished group of public, private, and liberal arts colleges and universities that includes Harvard, Yale, MIT, Brown, Dartmouth, Tufts, Wellesley, Wesleyan, Northeastern, and UCONN. It is one of three Jesuit institutions in the group, the others being Boston College and Holy Cross.

“Fairfield is a great value and a great investment for students, their families, our benefactors who provide scholarship support, and for state and federal governments,” said the Rev. Paul J. Fitzgerald, S.J., senior vice president for academic affairs at Fairfield University. “The return on that investment can, of course, be measured in the future professional trajectory of our alumni. Harder to measure, but even more important, is the quality of the lives our grads live. They are a force for good, engaging in the world as ethical and entrepreneurial leaders with a sense of duty and a habit of generosity. That's the Jesuit advantage.”

Kiplinger’s “Top Private College Values” rankings are based on academic quality , accounting for 56.25 percent, and affordability , which factors for 43.75 percent of the measurement. It incorporates five subdivided categories: competitiveness, graduation rates, academic support, cost, and financial aid and student indebtedness.

These rankings are part of Kiplinger’s new College Finder tool, which complements Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine’s annual “Best Values in Public Colleges” and “Best Values in Private Colleges” and also reveals the best college values in each region, best values among different-sized campuses, and best values under $30,000 a year.
