Campus Gears Up for Summer Guests

The Office of Conference & Event Management, the centralized resource for all conference and event related activities on campus, is gearing up for a busy summer!

The Office, staffed by Matt Dinnan, Tara Rupp, Jan Buswell, and Suzanne Neubauer, is responsible for centralizing reservations across campus and facilitating a wide variety of events for both internal and external groups. From small meetings to large-scale events, the staff books spaces, arranges work orders and rentals, facilitates catering and media services, and ensures that visitors to campus have a successful experience.

While the majority of students moved off campus after exams last week, the campus will not be quiet for very long. “Over the summer, thousands of people come to campus for a wide range of reasons including internship housing, athletic camps, academic camps, conferences, weddings, Orientation, and reunion,” reports Tara Rupp.

Conference & Event Management also worked during the spring semester on expanding Fairfield’s summer internship housing. This program allows students from other universities across the country to live on campus while interning at businesses and corporations in Fairfield County and New York City. Many of the University's residence halls and apartment complexes are also available for summer student housing as well as for overnight camps and conferences.

Conference & Event Management is implementing a new electronic reservations system over the summer that will make booking spaces easier and more efficient for the campus community.

Students, faculty, staff, departments, or other University-sponsored groups and organizations as well as external groups can reserve space on campus for meetings and events. Contact the Office of Conference & Event Management at (203) 254-4000 ext. 2377 or stop by Room 212 of the Barone Campus Center.

For more information about the selection of programs including academic enrichment initiatives, theatre and arts programs, and sports camps, visit the summer programs page.
