When: Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 - 8:00 p.m. Visit the event website at: quickcenter.com
Where: The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University
Who: Husband-wife duo Margaret Hoover and John Avlon. As on air CNN contributors, John Avlon is a staunch Independent and Margaret Hoover is a proud Republican. Off air, they are a happily married couple. Through fun and humorous banter, the couple breathes new life into timeless debates. Avlon is Editor in Chief of The Daily Beast and the author of Independent Nation: How Centrists Can Change American Politics. The book is a rallying cry for the moderate majority of Americans who are tired of the far right and farleft politics and choose instead to walk an independent path between these extremes. Hoover is a socially liberal, fiscally conservative Republican. Previously a FoxNews contributor, Hoover is the best-selling author of American Individualism: How A New Generation of Conservatives Can Save the Republican Party.
What: Open VISIONS Forum (OVF) is the University’s signature town hall style lecture series that brings artists, scientists, trendsetters, authors, policy-makers and thought leaders to the Fairfield campus.
“We encourage everybody's participation,” said Philip Eliasoph, PhD, director of the OVF. “Listen, ask questions, discuss the outcomes in the lobby with friends and neighbors. With speakers representing every segment of the political and cultural landscape, there's plenty of stimulation to feed the 'life of the mind.'”
