FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 23, 2016)  — The Met: Live in HD season continues on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1 & 6 p.m. with Gaetano Donizetti’s opera Roberto Devereux at the Quick Center.

In this climactic opera — the final of the Tudor Trilogy — Queen Elizabeth I (Sondra Radvanovsky) is forced to sign the death warrant of the nobleman she loves, Roberto Devereux. Sir David McVicar, who directed the Met premieres of Anna Bolena and Maria Stuarda, returns to stage the final installment in the series.

Over the course of the season, acclaimed bel canto soprano Sondra Radvanovsky sings Elizabeth I in Roberto Devereux, as well as the title roles in Anna Bolena and Maria Stuarda, a feat performed by Beverly Sills at New York City Opera in the 1970s and not since repeated in New York. Maurizio Benini conducts the first-ever Met performances of this work.

Tickets are $25, $20 for seniors, and $5 for children and students. For tickets, visit http://www.quickcenter.com or call the box office at 203-254-4010 or toll free at 1-877-ARTS-396.
