This encore presentation reprises the groundbreaking broadcast that launched the Met’s heralded Live in HD series. Julie Taymor’s shortened English-language production brings whimsical humor and breathtaking puppetry to Mozart’s timeless fairy tale, under the baton of maestro James Levine.

Mozart’s final opera premiered in Vienna in September 1791, conducted by Mozart himself, just weeks before the composer’s death.  It was a major success from its debut and remains one of the most popular works in the repertoire.

The Metropolitan Opera was founded in 1883, and continues to provide world-class entertainment to audiences. This series of HD broadcasts of stage performances captured live at the Met allow people to experience these wonderful works without ever having to enter the city. Join us at The Quick Center for a front-row seat to the Met stage!
