Upcoming talk by Milford, Connecticut patent attorney will be a how-to for making your product idea a reality. Workshop is part of an ongoing series of free events for entrepreneurs.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (January 21, 2015) - Today’s inventors and entrepreneurs need to know as much about the ins and outs of patent and trademark law as they do about their inventions.

On Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 7 p.m., Fairfield University will host a free workshop on this subject for the public hosted by Milford, Connecticut patent and trademark law attorney Michael Blake. Entitled, “A Low-Cost Patent and Trademark Clinic for the Inventor,” it will take place in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library Multimedia Room (101).

The event is part of a series of talks and workshops at Fairfield for budding entrepreneurs. It’s co-sponsored by Fairfield University's School of Engineering and Dolan School of Business, in collaboration with the Inventors Association of Connecticut (IACT).

Blake is assistant clinical professor of law and supervising patent attorney at the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Law Clinic (IP Clinic), part of the University of Connecticut School of Law. He’ll discuss the IP Clinic, which has assisted and advised close to 300 clients in legal research, drafting documents, interactions with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, patent searches, and trademark clearances.

Blake is experienced in obtaining patent protection for a variety of technical areas, including consumer products, semiconductors, automobile systems, turbine and pump systems, drilling systems, and computer systems. Prior to attending law school at the University of Texas, he was employed for four years as a mechanical engineer at Bently Nevada Corporation, now a GE Power Systems business.
