Of the 3,000 U.S. colleges and universities vying for the attention of high school students and their parents, determining the best "fit," is a complex and critical decision.
Karen Pellegrino, Dean of Enrollment at Fairfield University, will give her expert insight in "Behind the Scenes of College Admission," a presentation at 7 p.m., Thursday, October 9, at the Fairfield University's bookstore, 1499 Post Road in Fairfield, Connecticut.
"At times, the college admission process can seem daunting to students and their parents alike," said Pellegrino. "But there are many different tips and ideas we share with people to help relieve their anxiety and make the college search process more manageable and less stressful."
Pellegrino, a veteran college admission administrator, will discuss topics that include:
- Making yourself stand out from the crowd
- Learning what to look for - academic fit, small/large, near/far
- Importance of test scores, essays, interviews and campus visits
- Navigating the application and financial aid process
The presentation, which is free, is designed for high school students and their families. The event will be held on the 2nd floor, community-gathering area, in the bookstore.
