Dr. Etemad is the Chair of Mechanical Engineering Department and first Bannow-Larson Professor of Manufacturing at Fairfield University. As a department chair, he provided leadership and has successfully achieved program accreditation, enhanced student enrollment, hiring and mentoring of new faculty, introducing several advanced courses to enhance curriculum portfolio, raising funds to develop three state-of-arts laboratories in support of his departmental growth. He brings a student-centered approach to his leadership and has made it a priority to work closely with students as not only an educator and adviser, but also as a mentor, in job placement, and future colleague.

Dr. Etemad has over 30 years of teaching, research, industrial and senior administration experience in the energy fields. He is the original developer of Scroll compressor for Carrier Corp and RCL® Combustion System for Precision Combustion, Inc. with 29 patent awards. He has published over 40 technical articles in scientific journals. He is current member of the Board of Associates of ASME, I.C. Engine Division. He is the recipient of ASME award for outstanding contributions to the literature of combustion. He has been a principle investigator on several grants funding in excess of $14M.

M.S. - Mechanical Engineering (Turbomachinery - IC Engine), King's College, University of London, England, 1979.

B.S.  - Mechanical Engineering (Thermofluid, Energy), University of Sussex, England, 1977.
