Adam Rugg is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication. He received his M.A. from the University of South Florida and his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. His research interests include examining the relationship between sports, media, and social issues, with an emphasis on the NFL. In addition to his focus on sports, he also researches and teaches on the effect of social media and emerging technological platforms on information consumption. In particular, he looks at the ways in which news consumption habits are created and maintained in a digital world and how those processes can be manipulated or infiltrated by misinformation and bad actors.
