Current Research Interests

My current book project, based on my doctoral work, reconstructs the period between 1946 and 1952 as a transformative event of violence in India. My interest in forms of sovereignty in colonial India has led to an article on the "princely states" and attempts to fashion the British Raj into an Indian federation. I am also working on an intellectual history of the political thought of Jawaharlal Nehru. My work has been published in Modern Intellectual History, Comparative Studies in Society and History, and Economic and Political Weekly.
