My main scholarly focus is on the cultures of the American West and Native American Studies, with particular attention to constructions of white or Native masculinity.  I also am a member of the Board of Directors of "Simply Smiles," a local CT based non-profit that serves the people of Oaxaca, Mexico, and the Lakota on the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation within SD.  I visit the reservation about 35-40 days per year to work as a member of the Simply Smiles team and in partnership with the local community to provide bright futures for children and their families.  I am also working closely with the locals on an oral history video project.
