Dr. Ryan Colwell is an Assistant Professor of Childhood Education and Director of the Childhood Education Program in the Graduate School of Education & Allied Professions (GSEAP). He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, his Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Connecticut.  He taught third grade at Union School in Farmington, Connecticut and second grade at Center School in Willington, Connecticut.

Dr. Colwell teaches methods courses in literacy, math, science and interdisciplinary instruction, as well as the student teaching seminar for Elementary Education candidates. As the Director of Childhood Education at Fairfield, Dr. Colwell coordinates the 5-Year Integrated Bachelor’s/Master’s Program in Elementary Education, as well as the Post-Baccalaureate Master’s Program in Elementary Education.  He also serves as the Educational Advisor to the Early Learning Center on campus.
