The moment you step inside, you will know this is a new and special place. From an indoor track and large cardio training suite to ample rooms for classes, meeting spaces and juice bar, the new-and-improved RecPlex is a great place for students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and friends.
Introducing Fairfield Fit
Fairfield Fit is available to supplement your weekly routine with exciting fitness classes (ie. Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Cross Fit). Classes are offered in one of our five exercise rooms, all within the confines of our new facility. A designated spin room with 20 Matrix bikes and a resistance band training room is also available. The weekly class schedule provides upwards of 50 fitness/exercise classes. These classes are available throughout the day and early evening hours.
All classes are free to the University community on a first-in basis.

At Fairfield University, there are over 19 club sports for students to choose from. Club sports are organized and managed by students with the Associate Director of Recreation overseeing membership and dues.
Fairfield Fit is available to supplement your weekly routine with exciting fitness classes (Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Cross Fit). All classes are free to Fairfield staff, faculty, administrators and students.
Membership in the RecPlex includes use of the facility and its basic functions* during normal hours of operation, except for special occasions where the facility may be restricted due to University events or programs, maintenance, or other reasons. Fitness classes or other special programs through Fairfield Fit may be fee-based and limited on the basis of availability. The University reserves the right to modify the hours of operation at any time.

Monday through Friday: 6:00 a.m. - 11 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. - 11 p.m.
Sunday: 9 a.m. - 11 p.m.
Intramural sports are an integral part of student life at Fairfield University. There are more than 25 different intramural activities, including full seasons, one day, or weekend tournaments. Separate divisions include men, women, and co-ed participation. The Intramural program is administered by student supervisors and officiated by student employees.
The Fairfield University Aquatics Center is an 8-lane 25-meter pool with whirlpool. Men and women's locker rooms are available with showers and saunas. The Aquatics Center is home to Fairfield University's Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams.

John has worked at Fairfield University since 1993, initially serving as an Assistant and Associate Head Coach of Women’s Basketball. Moving over to the Department of Recreation in 2006, John Has served as Director of Sports Clubs and Intramural programs/Associate Director of Recreation.
For the past 25 years, Phil has been in various positions with both The Department of Athletics, as varsity head swim coach, and more recently as a Department of Recreation administrator. Phil currently is the Aquatics Director, working collaboratively with the varsity swim and diving programs, Conference and Events Management., as well as overseeing pool and facility equipment.
Betsy began her career at Fairfield University in August 2005 with the Office of Annual Giving. Betsy joined the Department of Recreation in 2008. In September 2015, Betsy was named Program Coordinator for Fitness, Wellness and Facility Staff Supervisor.
Danielle recently began her career at Fairfield. In addition to membership registration and facility usage, Danielle oversees facility inventory, not limited to, equipment and supplies. Danielle helps our reception desk student staff and contributes greatly to create the department's “stress-free zone” for all students and members.
Jon Dinihanian – Program Coordinator of Club and Intramural Sports. Jon is the newly appointed Program Coordinator of Club and Intramural Sports. Jon is a Fairfield University alum ‘13 with a BA in Communications. Having participated in intramurals while a Fairfield undergrad, Jon knows both the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
Amanda is in her second year as the Department of Recreation’s part-time Sports Club Coordinator. Amanda coordinates all Sports Club oversight; member registrations, travel planning and day to day club management. She is a 2016 graduate of Central Connecticut State College with a degree in Psychology. Amanda is currently pursuing her six year degree in School Psychology.
Ethan is in his first year as the Department of Recreation’s part-time Intramural Sports Coordinator. He coordinates all intramural programs, manages the IM staff and oversees special weekend events. Ethan is a 2017 graduate of Nicholls College with a degree in Business Administration – Sports Management.
