Dear Prospective Student:

Business analytics represents a revolutionary way of examining market conditions and opportunities. The use of Big Data to better understand consumer behavior and evolving markets provides a means by which businesses can remain competitive in a vibrant economy. Those who specialize in business analytics will provide the expertise to guide businesses through the inevitable transitions that are always underway.

The MSBA in the Dolan School emphasizes instruction in the latest innovations in analytics, including data mining, forecasting and the use of programs such as Python. Students can decide to take a specialization in marketing analytics as part of their course of study. Those who are also interested in another business field can take up to three electives in an area of their choice.

Our 30-credit program emphasizes database management and business intelligence, providing students with the tools they need for collecting, analyzing and interpreting information.

The Marketing Analytics Specialization within the M.S. (9 credits)

To complete a concentration in Marketing Analytics, students will select - as their required electives - three marketing courses, as followss: 

MK 520 Marketing Research 
MK 580 Multivariate Data Analysis for Decision Making (required)
MK 585 Seminar: Contemporary Topics in Marketintg OR MK 590 Experiential Research in Marketing 

 

The Healthcare Specialization within the M.S. (9 credits)

To complete a concentration in Healthcare, students will select - as their required electives - three of the following four courses:

NS 602 Healthcare Economics and Marketing 
NS 605 Advanced Healthcare Policy 
NS 613 Finance and Quality Management in Healthcare Organizations  

NS 614 Information Technology for Healthcare Improvement  

The Accounting Specialization within the M.S. (9 credits)

To complete a concentration in Accounting, which is open only to those who have an undergraduate degree in Accounting or equivalent, students will selected - as their required electives - any three graduate Accounting or Taxation courses at the 500 level.

Admission Requirements

Applicants for the M.S. in Business Analytics must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent) and have adequate background in the areas of:

  • College-level math
  • College-level statistics

Applicants lacking proper training in these areas will need to take preparatory courses in addition to the main course work.

Formal Admission Process

Applications are reviewed by the Graduate Admission Committee. Students seeking admission must submit:

Completed Application for Graduate Admission (available online.)

  • A Completed Application for Graduate Admission Form Apply Online
  • A Non-refundable $60 Application Fee
  • A Professional Resume. Applicants are required to submit a current resume that includes employment and education history. (Submit Online)
  • A Personal Statement of self-evaluation of work experience and career objectives. (Submit Online)
  • Official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended. (All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an approved evaluating service.)
  • Two Recommendation Forms and Letters, one of which must be, preferably, from a current employer or supervisor. The Recommendations are completed online. At the time of application you will need to provide your two Recommender's names and e-mail addresses.
  • Interviews. Applicants may be required to participate in an interview as part of the admission process. If required, candidates will be contacted by the program director to schedule an appointment.
  • *Official Score for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The GRE may be substituted for the GMAT.

*The Charles F. Dolan School of Business generally seeks graduate students who meet the following criteria:  an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 accompanied by a GMAT score of at least 500.

International Students

Students from non-English speaking countries are required to submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report. A TOEFL composite score of 550 for the paper test, 213 for the computer-based, 80 on the Internet-based test (IBT) is strongly recommended for admission. Fairfield's ETS code is 3390.
