Graduate Programs

Bilingual Education

Fairfield offers programs in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and bilingual education to prepare prospective and practicing teachers to educate K-12 students who are learning English as a second or additional language.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Fairfield University’s Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree offers counseling courses under the guidance of faculty members who are nationally recognized in the field.

Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership

Fairfield University invites certified educators looking to further develop their leadership skills to apply to the Doctorate of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership for Teacher Leaders.The program is designed for experienced teachers, such as classroom teachers, school psychologists, math coaches, or reading interventionists, who have a desire to lead from within and across classrooms to transform education.

Educational Technology

The Master of Arts in Educational Technology enhances and transforms teaching through technology integration. Students will be trained as teachers, co-teachers, consultants in schools and organizations, and for professional development positions.

Elementary Education

The Educational Studies and Teacher Preparation Department of the School of Education and Human Development offers graduate programs for new and experienced teachers in Elementary Education organized around reflective inquiry and socially responsible professional practice.

Family Studies

The Master of Arts in Family Studies is a non-clinical program within the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy. Here, students are put on an advanced educational track in early childhood, human development, interpersonal relations, and family studies.

Instructional Design

The Master of Arts in Instructional Design program is ideal for professionals who want to pursue a career in design, development, and implementation of online learning environments. The ISTE-certified program gives students the expertise to lead within their field of choice.

Marriage & Family Therapy

The Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) educates candidates for careers as marriage and family therapists, and is fully accredited with the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). The curriculum and clinical training focuses on preparing you to work with diverse populations who have experienced a broad range of problems.

School Counseling

Fairfield University’s Master of Arts in School Counseling degree offers counseling courses under the guidance of faculty members who are nationally recognized in the field. The program develops knowledge and skills areas such as human growth and development, the helping relationship and group counseling.

School Psychology

Fairfield University’s Master of Arts degree and Sixth Year Certificate of Advanced Study (SYC) in School Psychology develop competencies in the areas of assessment, consultation and direct intervention. Your education also reflects the conceptual framework of the School of Education and Human Development, emphasizing the scientist–practitioner tradition, reflective practice, primary prevention, developmental and systems theory and becoming agents of change.

Secondary Education

The Educational Studies and Teacher Preparation Department of the School of Education and Human Development offers graduate programs for new and experienced teachers in Secondary Education organized around reflective inquiry and socially responsible professional practice.

Social Work (MSW)

The master of social work (MSW) at Fairfield University focuses on the promotion of social justice and social change on behalf of individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.

Special Education

 The Master of Arts in Special Education teaches professional instructors to apply specialized support to students with challenges through educational, social, cognitive, rehabilitative, and behavioral management approaches.
