Formal Admission Process

Applications are reviewed by the Graduate Admission Committee. Students seeking admission must submit:

  • A Completed Application for Graduate Admission Form  Apply Now 
  • A Non-refundable $65 Application Fee
  • A Professional Resume. Applicants are required to submit a current resume that includes employment and education history. (Submit Online)
  • A Personal Statement of self-evaluation of work experience and career objectives. (Required for Master's Programs only. Submit Online)
  • Official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended. (All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an approved evaluating service)
  • Two Recommendation Forms and Letters, one of which must be, preferably, from a current employer or supervisor. The Recommendations are completed online. At the time of application you will need to provide your two Recommender's names and e-mail addresses. Applicants for Dolan's Certificate programs do not need to submit recommendations.
  • Interviews. Applicants may be required to participate in an interview as part of the admission process. If required, candidates will be contacted by the program director to schedule an appointment.
  • *Official Score for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The GRE may be substituted for the GMAT.

*The Charles F. Dolan School of Business generally seeks graduate students who meet the following criteria:  an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 accompanied by a GMAT score of at least 500.

**The GMAT is not required for admissions for the Master of Science in Management or the Master of Science in Marketing Analytics and Strategy program.

GMAT Waiver Policy

GMAT/GRE waiver requests are considered on a case-by-case basis for graduate programs which require an entrance exam. GMAT/GRE waivers must be approved by the Graduate Program Director and are not automatic for any candidate.

GMAT waiver policy for the Master of Business Administration (MBA):

The GMAT/GRE exam is generally required for applicants to the MBA program. This requirement may be waived for MBA applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Two or more years of work experience and an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Candidates who already possess a master’s degree (or higher)
  • Five or more years of work experience in a relevant field and an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Graduates and current seniors of undergraduate business majors in the Dolan School of Business provided their overall Fairfield GPA is at least 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale)

MBA applicants seeking a GMAT waiver should request consideration by documenting the applicable criteria above in an e-mail to the Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs, Leanne De Los Santos, at ldelossantos@fairfield.edu.

GMAT waiver policy for the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA)

GMAT not required. Fairfield students with an Overall GPA of 3.25 or higher do not require an interview; if GPA is under 3.25, an interview is required. Non-Fairfield candidates should have an overall GPA of 3.25 or higher and an interview is required.

• Two Recommendation Forms and Letters, preferably, one from an Accounting professor and one from a current employer or supervisor. The Recommendations are completed online. At the time of application, you will need to provide your two recommender's names and e-mail addresses.

 

GMAT waiver policy for the Master of Business Analytics (MSBA):

The GMAT/GRE may be waived for applicants whose overall undergraduate GPA was at least a 3.0, who have two or more years of work experience, or who have passed all parts of the Uniform CPA exam or a jurisdictional Bar examination or another similarly advanced professional certification or a previous graduate degree. GMAT waiver policy for the Master of Science in Finance (MSF):

The GMAT/GRE exam is generally required for applicants to the MSF program. This requirement may be waived for MSF applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Graduates and current seniors of undergraduate business majors in the Dolan School of Business provided their overall Fairfield GPA is at least 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Graduates and current seniors of undergraduate business majors of AACSB accredited business schools provided their overall GPA is at least a 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Passed Level 1 of the CFA or FRM
  • Professional certifications related to business (e.g. CPA, CIMA, CAIA, etc.)
  • J.D., M.D., Ph.D., or a graduate degree in a related field
  • Two or more years of significant or relevant work experience in business or a related field

International Students

Students from non-English speaking countries are required to submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report. A TOEFL composite score of 550 for the paper test, 213 for the computer-based, 80 on the Internet-based test (IBT) is strongly recommended for admission. Fairfield's ETS code is 3390.

How To Apply

Deadlines & Fees

Due to the competitive nature of the MSA program, completed applications must be submitted by the end of the fall semester (December) PRIOR to the start of the next cohort, which occurs in May. All other graduate programs are admitted on a rolling basis.

Financial Aid & Tuition
