Exploring Career Paths in Marketing
Earlier this month students interested in a career in marketing joined classmates and local marketing professionals for an evening of networking at the annual Dolan School Marketing MIXer. The evening is an opportunity for students to meet with expert marketers and focus on perfecting their networking skills while learning more about career paths in marketing. The event was designed to give students an understanding of what qualifications are needed to excel in the field.
Students heard from alumni speakers and marketing professionals including Dana Aigotti ’17, associate account executive at Epsilon. Aigotti started her career with Epsilon after graduating last spring and is currently working on the ACCO brand. She said, “This event is important for marketing students because there are so many different career paths that can be taken.” The evening was a way for students to learn more about the marketing career they’re most drawn to.
Wendy Christian, chief communications officer at Save the Children, was also a featured speaker. With more than 20 years of experience in agency, corporate, and non-profit communications, not only does she think the event was a non-intimidating way for students to learn about careers but also “an opportunity [for employers] to meet talented students who might be candidates for internships or full-time positions.”
President of the Dolan School Marketing Club who moderated the event, Colleen Green ’18, said, “[the panel’s] insight was incredibly useful and the experience was an absolute success. It is essential for students to attend networking events such as this to build connections and gain greater insight into potential careers."
