A Message From Dean Ligas
Friends of the Dolan School,
It is hard to believe that the spring semester has come to a close, and we here at Dolan have had to say goodbye to another group of undergraduate and graduate students. As I have remarked in prior messages, this has been a year of both transition and transformation. However, one thing has remained constant, namely the caliber of high-achieving, mission-focused students who leave Dolan to share their talents and pursue professional vocations.
As we say farewell to our newly minted graduates, we look forward to welcoming our new dean. Following a national search, Zhan Li, DBA, who previously served as associate dean for Graduate Programs and Research, and associate dean for Academic Affairs at the University of San Francisco (USF), will formally assume the position of dean of the Dolan School on July 1, 2018. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Li. You can learn more about him by reading our feature story.
The spring semester provides numerous opportunities to highlight both student and faculty developments and also showcase individuals’ knowledge and hard work. Alumni working in the reinsurance industry educated our students during the Dean’s Lecture. Students gladly sacrificed both time and energy for numerous charity events during our Dolan Week of Service. And of course, the semester culminated with the StartUp Showcase, where the brightest student entrepreneurs pitched clever, innovative, and socially-responsible ideas for new businesses.
Thank you for taking the time to find out what makes the Dolan School so special. I hope that you are able to find some peace and relaxation over the coming summer months.
