Please note: All undergraduate students participating in graduation ceremonies must attend a mandatory guideline meeting the week prior to commencement in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Wednesday, 5/18 at 10 a.m.

School Receptions - Saturday May 21, 2016

Each school at Fairfield University will host an undergraduate reception on Sat. May 21 from 2 to 3:30 p.m., before the Baccalaureate Mass at 4 p.m. in Alumni Hall. Graduates, along with their family and friends, are invited to attend their school's reception to meet and mingle with Deans and faculty members.

FAQs

SENIOR BUS FROM THE BEACH TO COMMENCEMENT

Due to limited parking options for the 2016 Fairfield University Undergraduate Commencement ceremonies, buses will be provided as transportation to the campus for seniors living at the beach. The buses will depart from Veterans Park. The buses will begin loading at 7:00 a.m., followed by departure for the University at 7:15 a.m. sharp. The buses will drop students off at the BCC Traffic Circle. From here students will be directed to find their designated classroom in BNW, SON, or CNS according to their specific assignment. Bus transportation is strongly encouraged for all students living at the beach.

*Please note that there will be no return bus transportation after commencement ceremonies.

HOW MAY TICKETS BE PROCURED?

Degree candidates may pick up tickets in the Registrar's Office in the Kelley Center from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. (until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday) during the week of April 25 to 29, 2016. Each degree candidate may pick up a maximum of five tickets for the outdoor Commencement exercises. Two of these outdoor tickets will be special indoor tickets valid for two guests only for indoor exercises. Outdoor exercises will be held on Bellarmine Lawn. Indoor exercises, in the case of severe and dangerous weather, will be held at Alumni Hall. This rain location allows the University to respond to the wishes of seniors that classmates are together in a rain site.

Students are reminded to safeguard their tickets. Lost tickets will not be replaced. No admittance to any Commencement location will be allowed without a ticket.


WHERE DO I PICK UP MY ACADEMIC ATTIRE?


Academic attire that undergraduate degree candidates ordered online and will be distributed by the Fairfield University bookstore in the Barone Campus Center, lower level, on Wednesday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Anyone who does not pick up a cap and gown on Wednesday the 18th can pick them up in the Bookstore/Spirit Shop in the Barone Campus Center (on-campus, not downtown) during regular bookstore hours Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and they will open at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. The cost of the Bachelor's gown, hood, tassel and cap is $57.00 and is due at pickup. These are for the graduates to keep.

Outdoor Location

The 66th Commencement ceremony is scheduled to be held on Bellarmine Lawn. Commencement, if at all possible will be held outdoors, even in drizzle or rain, so please come prepared with appropriate rain gear.

Indoor Location

In the case of severe and dangerous weather, officials may choose to move the ceremony indoors, where it would be held at Alumni Hall with satellite broadcast locations in various campus buildings.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR GUESTS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES?

Fairfield University encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. There will be several indoor locations with live video streaming of Commencement ceremonies located around campus available for guests with physical disabilities or who would prefer indoor seating. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact the Department of Public Safety at (203) 254-4090 or in Loyola Hall, Ground Floor, Room 2, between May 2 and May 6 for special arrangements.


HOW MAY I OBTAIN A COMMENCEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE UNIVERSITY'S 66th COMMENCEMENT?

Commencement programs will be distributed by student ushers at the entrance to Bellarmine Terrace or, in the event of severe and dangerous weather, at the entrance to Alumni Hall.


HOW MUCH TIME WILL THE CEREMONY TAKE?

The ceremony usually runs two hours.


WHEN SHOULD GUESTS PLAN ON ARRIVING IN FAIRFIELD?

Most families arrive early Saturday in order to take part in both the Saturday and Sunday programs.


WHEN SHOULD WE PLAN ON LEAVING FAIRFIELD?

Since graduates usually depart from Fairfield by noon on Monday families and guests are free to leave according to their own schedules.


WHEN WILL UNIVERSITY HOUSING CLOSE?

The University Townhouse Complex, Village Apartments, Dolan, etc. will officially close at noon on Monday, May 23.


WHAT ABOUT PARKING?

For the Baccalaureate Mass on Saturday, guests of the graduates are free to park in any of the designated lots on campus.

Travel to the University on the morning of Commencement is extremely slow because of heavy traffic. Ample time should be allowed for reaching the campus, especially from Exit 22 on the Connecticut Turnpike (I-95) and from Exit 44 on the Merritt Parkway.

For Commencement, family and friends of graduates will have the entire parking area on campus except for reserved parking areas in the Canisius Hall parking lot and in the Bellarmine Hall lots.

HOW DO I ORDER A COPY OF THE MANOR, THE FAIRFIELD UNIVERSITY YEARBOOK?

Your son/daughter should have ordered a yearbook by having a senior picture taken by our yearbook photographer in October 2015. For an additional copies, please call Student Affairs at (203) 254-4000, ext. 2378. The cost for the additional yearbook is $100.


WHAT ABOUT SENIOR WEEK ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS?

At the end of March 2016, students will receive the 2016 Senior Week Schedule outlining all activities planned by the Senior Week committee under the direction of the Department of Student Programs & Leadership Development, seniorweek@fairfield.edu, ext. 4053.


IS THERE SPACE AVAILABLE ON CAMPUS FOR A PRIVATE RECEPTION DURING COMMENCEMENT WEEKEND?

No. Because of the many events already taking place on campus, we are unable to offer space for private functions. We would suggest that you contact a local restaurant or hotel.


WHAT ABOUT HOTEL RESERVATIONS?
