Fairfield University Women’s Basketball enhances the college experience of our varsity student-athletes, providing them with opportunities to excel athletically and academically. Friends of Women’s Basketball provides the program with the basic necessities to help them play at the highest levels of collegiate competition.
Dear Friends of Fairfield Women’s Basketball,
I hope this letter finds you all well and that you have had a wonderful summer. It is hard to believe that another school year is upon us. We are proud to announce that our 2016-17 Lady Stags team received the WBCA award of top 25 GPA’s in the country coming in 22nd out of 349 teams. All three of our graduating seniors, Casey Smith, Kelsey Carey, and Kristine Miller, will be pursuing their professional basketball dreams and furthering their careers overseas in Ireland and Germany.
It’s been a busy summer for the Stag coaches and players! Our staff recruited in over 6 cities. While we welcomed all five of our new players to campus for summer school and workouts we had two returning players who added internships to their daily routines. Rising Junior, Dija Diouf spent the summer in Senegal working an internship for a Dental Hygienist, where she learned hands-on skills and was able to help her home country. Kristen McLaughlin, rising senior, spent the summer interning with the Fairfield Public Library.
We want to thank you all as we surpassed last year’s donor/dollar goal, raising $16,996 from 46 different donors. Our 2017-2018 goal is to raise $20,000 dollars contributed by 45 donors; we look forward to your continued support. We are going to be hosting our annual Open Practice and Fairfield Women’s Basketball Reception on October 21st, and we hope to see you all there. There will be more details to follow on our open practice and reception.
