Coach's Letter

Hello Friends, Family, and Alumni!

I hope that all of you have enjoyed the summer months and are excited for another year of Stags’ men’s tennis! I’m reaching out to give you a preview of the upcoming fall season.

As always, the summer is full of recruiting showcases and tournaments for seeking future Stags to continue the great tradition that all of you have built.

We have a number of tournaments lined up including the Ivy Plus at Yale, the Army Shoot-out (Army, St. John’s, NJIT and Fairfield), and the QU Invite. In addition, we have a home match vs. Rider on Wednesday, October 4th at 2:00 pm, and a match at Hofstra on Saturday, October 14th at noon. If you have time, it would be great if you could stop by and catch one of the matches this fall. The team always loves when our friends pay us a visit.

We are also going to have several new faces this year, with four additions to the roster and a new assistant coach.

I’m very excited to announce that Nolan Paige has agreed to be our men’s and women’s assistant coach. Many of you know Nolan as the son of former head coach, Ed Paige. However, Nolan was also one of the top players in the country in juniors and college at Stanford University. He was playing some pro-level tournaments and living in Fairfield, so when I approached him with this opportunity, he jumped at the chance to help the Stags! Nolan will be a huge asset to both programs.

We have three incoming freshmen and one transfer from Auburn also joining the team this fall. Allan Magid is from Brooklyn, New York and trained out of Centercourt Performance Tennis in New Jersey. He should push for playing time right away. William Townsend Font is from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico and trained in Florida. Will has great size and a very big game that should help him develop into a great college player. John Hatala is from Waxhaw, North Carolina and brings a tenacious tennis attitude to the team. He has the grit and energy to take on any opponent and will be a tough out for any opposing team. Finally, Lewis Edwards joins the team after red-shirting his freshman year at Auburn University. Lewis is from Melbourne, Australia and brings some serious size and power to the team. He has a big lefty game and should be able to make an impact right away.

As you can see, we have a lot of new faces joining a team that brought back all six starters from last year. I expect the competition level to be very strong from the start of the season and have high hopes for achieving our goal of winning the MAAC title in 2018!

Each year we need your help to make sure that we give our team the best possible experience. This past year we were able to reach our dollar goal of $10,000 and I want to thank all of you again on behalf of the team! However, with success comes new goals, and this year we have set the fundraising donor goal at 50 and a dollar goal of $10,000. Please remember that these donations will help pay for our teams travel, equipment and lodging while on the road. Even a $25 or $50 donation will help us reach our goals, and assist our student-athletes in achieving their championship dreams. Hopefully, you will be able to give back to our tennis program that gave so much to you during your time at Fairfield.

As always, thank you for your continued support of our men’s tennis program! Without each of you, we wouldn’t be able to give our student-athletes all that they deserve. I look forward to seeing many of you this fall!

Warm regards,

Jeff Bricker
