Fairfield University Men’s Soccer enhances the college experience of our varsity student-athletes, providing them with opportunities to excel athletically and academically. Friends of Men’s Soccer provides the program with the basic necessities to help them compete at the highest levels of competition.
Our 2017 campaign is officially underway. We opened the season on August 26th and we’re feeling hopeful.
The squad has knitted together well since we got together on Aug 9th for pre-season. New faces include two local players from Beachside Soccer Academy, Ryan Ruff and Nadav Zarmi; Fernando Robayo from Massapequa Soccer Club, NY; and Nick Calabrese from Matchfit Soccer Academy, NJ. The domestic players will be joined by Matt McGlinchey from England, Don Junior Bobe from Canada, Jonas Vergin from Germany, Gordon Botterill from Switzerland, and Marcus Nordard — a transfer student from Hartwick College who originally hails from Copenhagen, Denmark.
New staff member and Athletic trainer Michael Thomas, the returning Jonathan Raj, and newly promoted but long-serving Javier Decima round out a qualified squad of people committed to achieving our goals and representing the University proudly as we compete against some of the best teams in the country.
There is a freshness and a motivation to the group that has led to this pre-season being one of the most enjoyable I have experienced in years. We have talent at every position and a point to prove, and it’s exciting to see their hard work and talent in action this season.
As always, I would love to see you at Lessing Field or on the road. Home or away I know we have your support, and the current players are aware of the history and expectation that you have created. I promise that we will be battling harder than ever to get it done.
You'll Never Walk Alone,
Men’s Soccer Head Coach
Friends of Men’s Soccer has set a fundraising goal of 100 donors and $50,000. Donations made before June 30, 2018 will go towards the program’s current use fund, contributions that immediately benefit our most pressing program necessities and enhancements. By making a gift of any amount, you can provide Men’s Soccer with a competitive edge.
