“I would like to thank you for your support. I am grateful for the opportunities that it creates for me as it has allowed me to focus more on my studies and work fewer jobs outside of the University. It will also be very helpful when I graduate since it will alleviate some financial issues.”

Honors, Awards and Other Activities

I have been on the Dean’s List and am currently enrolled in the Fairfield University Honors Program. I am involved in clubs such as Fairfield Alliance, Theatre Fairfield, Student Workers United, and I am a Resident Assistant for the Women in STEM floor. I currently work in the Office of Study Abroad on campus and occasionally work at a tax firm in Stratford.

My Plans after Graduation

After I graduate with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, I plan to continue my studies with a master’s degree in education at Fairfield University. Once I finish my master’s degree, I hope to become a secondary education teacher who is cross-certified in chemistry and mathematics.

“I would like to thank you for your support. Without your care and generosity, I would not be able to attend Fairfield University. I also would not be able to be involved in so much on campus, as well as have the many opportunities to network as I do now at Fairfield. I am motivated by your generosity and I will be sure to keep this in mind as I pursue my career in business management.”

Honors, Awards and Other Activities

Currently, I am involved in the Black Student Union, Juhan, Distinguished Gentlemen, and am an active member of the Diversity Recruitment Team. Black Student Union provides a safe and comfortable space for underrepresented students on campus. Juhan promotes community service for areas in need and raises global awareness for those who are struggling, such as refugees, and scholars at risk of improper imprisonment. The Distinguished Gentlemen Club promotes healthy masculinity on campus and off-campus. We tutor and mentor middle school children, educating them on what it means to be a man instead of allowing them to believe society’s view of what a man is or should be. We also provide these children with someone to look up to, a successful college male who supports, promotes, and practice healthy masculinity. The Diversity Recruitment Team is a team that strives to increase diversity on Fairfield University’s campus. Through this team, we create an action plan in hopes of convincing prospective students that Fairfield is the place for them, and that they too can help to increase diversity on campus, while reaping the rewards of a Jesuit education and many great opportunities.

My Plans after Graduation

Following graduation, I plan to enter into a master's program for business management to further my education. I want to increase my career opportunities to provide for myself as well as have the opportunity to give back to others, just as you have done for me.

I’m fortunate to go to Fairfield and receive a valuable education that will open doors for me and it is thanks to your help.”

Honors, Awards and Other Activities

In addition to being on the Dean’s List, I have found many outlets to be a part of at Fairfield University. I am a part of the National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society, Alpha Mu Gamma. I am an alumni mentor for the Service for Justice Residential College, and a eucharistic minister for Campus Ministry.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduation, I hope to return to HIAS Pennslyvannia – a nonprofit that works with immigrants and refugees. I worked under their Development Department handling social media accounts and platforms. It was a great experience where I saw first-hand that public relations is the right fit for me.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to continue my education as a mechanical engineer."

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
Fairfield University has had a major impact on my life so far. From move-in day last year to helping first-year students move in this year, I have developed a massive respect and understanding for Jesuit values. It influenced me to pursue a leadership position as a Resident Assistant for the first-year students. I plan to stay involved with this position for the rest of my time here at Fairfield.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite class so far at Fairfield must be the Intro to Engineering class that I took in the fall semester of freshman year. In this class, we were introduced to the different types of engineering. The final project for this class was easily the best part: design a device that would “walk on water”. Each group raced their designs in front of the whole engineering department to determine whose was the fastest.

Honors or awards I have received
Dean’s List Fall 2016, Dean’s List Spring 2017, Resident Assistant

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
Intramural Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee Club, Librarian Work Study.

My plans after graduation
While still enrolled at Fairfield, I plan to acquire an internship at a major engineering company. Hopefully they will offer me a job after my graduation.

“I wanted to thank you for your generous donation to students like me which assist us in achieving our educational dream. Your generosity means a lot to me and my family. As a result of your thoughtful gift, I will be able to afford my education and achieve my dream of becoming a mechanical engineer. Thanks to you, I am one step closer to achieving my long term goal. Studying with the worries on how to manage my debt is really tough and destructive but with your generous kindness, my worries have lessened and I can now focus more on the most important aspect of the school. Learning from generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the community.

Honors, Awards and Other Activities

I have been on the Dean’s List and am currently a member to the following clubs at Fairfield University: Black Student Union Association, National Society of Black Engineers, Engineering without Borders, and Distinguised Gentlemen.

Thank you…

I am humbled by your generosity and kindness. I have learned so many valuable lessons while creating deep relationships with others, strengthening my faith, and experiencing a new culture. My time here and my education will help me reach my dreams and grant me a better future. I promise to continue doing my best and pay my blessings forward through the work I am doing with others and in the future. Thank you so much.

Honors, Awards and Other Activities

I am in the Honor’s Program as well as a student on Dean’s List. I recently joined Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. I am part of a student leader group called Interfaith Peer Leaders, and we teach first-year students about different faiths and faith traditions to encourage inclusiveness and open-mindedness. I am also a member to Statistics of the Life Sciences and a Research Assistant for Psychology Studies. For extra-curricular activities, I am the Vice-President of the Video Game Club.

My Plans after Graduation

My plan after graduation is to take a gap year and apply to jobs so I can finance my graduate studies. After I receive my master's degree or doctoral degree, I plan to become a counselor for my previous high school for a little bit and then go on to do more academic research in a university or lab setting.

THANK YOU
“Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to attend Fairfield University! Without your generous contribution, I would not be able to live at the place I now call home. The brothers, teammates, friends, professors, coaches, and advisors here are unparalleled to anyone I have ever met. I am truly thankful for my opportunity to come to Fairfield, and that’s because of you. Thank you!”

What I enjoy most about Fairfield University
I decided to come to Fairfield because I have a deep appreciation for a Jesuit education. I think the Jesuit mission of creating well-rounded men and women for others is integral as we go out into the world after our four years here. As well, I found a lasting brotherhood among the players on the rugby team and have discovered a dedicated and hard-working group of men that I aspire to be like.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
As a member of the Honors Program, my goal is to maintain a GPA at or above a 3.5. I also plan to join as many clubs as possible, so I can be involved in the Fairfield community.

Honors or awards I have received
I am a member of the Honors Program and am a Magis Scholar.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
The Rugby Club has provided me with a group of friends and mentors who have guided me through my first few months of school. I learned how to manage my time properly, so I could maximize my time for sleep and working out. I am in the best shape of my life and have a balanced daily routine that keeps me on top of my schoolwork and rugby training.

My plans after graduation
At this point, I will discuss possible internships with my advisor to explore my options after I graduate. I hope to get a good job in the field of engineering that will give me the opportunity to have a lasting impact on my community and country.

“I am so grateful to have received your support and I thank you so much for your generosity. Part of the burden of paying tuition has been relieved and I can focus more on my academics. I am honored to have received this privilege.”

Honors, Awards and Other Activities

At Fairfield, I am involved with Glee Club and Sweet Harmony, the all-female a cappella group, and I sing with Praise Project on campus. I was a leader of the Fairfield Challenge, a service and transitional retreat for first-year students. I am a cantor and teach CCD at my parish at home. I also founded the teen youth group and led it for three years before starting Fairfield. I was the recipient of the Vivere Christus Award from the Diocese of Paterson for progressive service to my community. I also received the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award from the University of Rochester for academic strength in the humanities and social sciences and the Knights of Columbus Scholarship and award in 2019.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduation, I hope to become a biology teacher in a high school. I am extremely enthusiastic about teaching and sharing my knowledge with others, especially the interconnections between the sciences and Catholocism. My focus is secondary education because this is when students usually lose their passion for learning, and I think this desire to learn should endure long after someone’s school days are over.

My Plans after Graduation

I am currently pursuing degrees in politics and psychology, while also being on the pre-law track. After college, I plan on attending law school and becoming an immigration lawyer. I want to be an immigration lawyer so I can help the construction workers, gardeners, housekeepers, like my mother, and the millions of students who are the future doctors, lawyers, and engineers of this country. Before attending law school, I plan on doing a semester in Washington D.C with the Supreme Court and then interning at the Connecticut legislatures office the following summer.

"I would like to express great gratitude to all the donors for giving me and all other hard-working students like me an opportunity to receive an education at the school of their dreams. I am ever so grateful for their compassion and I vow to turn this scholarship into something that will make my future dreams and aspirations become a reality. Once again, thank you. For without you, attending Fairfield University would not be possible."

My greatest learning experience at Fairfield University
My greatest learning experience at Fairfield University has been my ability to acknowledge by bad habits and come to grips that they must be worked on in order for me to reach my full potential. I have learned that my mistakes are my most important teachers because they teach me discipline and self-control. They allow me to see where I went wrong as a teenager and as an aspiring student. I take great pride in correcting my mistakes.

My favorite place on campus
My favorite place on campus is the Barone Campus Center because there is so much to do there. It is also a place where you can relax, do homework, or attend school sponsored events. Most importantly, the Barone Campus Center has endless resources for students, such as the Academic Career and Development Center, the Office of Diversity, the StagStore, the Dining Hall, etc.

My other interests
My other interests at Fairfield University include playing for sports for different teams. In addition, I also relish making new friends and going to campus sponsored events to spend some down time with my peers and other important staff and faculty members. It has enhanced my experience at school a tremendous amount because I have come to know some of the smartest, funniest, and laid back people on campus. It has made me feel comfortable and more at home than ever before. Furthermore, it enables me to seek advice and help from those around me.

My plans after graduation
Following my graduation in 2020, I plan to attend graduate school here at Fairfield University. Once I receive my Master’s Degree in business, I want to start my career in the corporate world, which will in turn allow me to give back to the school that is helping make my dreams become a reality.

THANK YOU
“I want to extend my gratitude for your generosity in making my college experience possible. I hold Fairfield near and dear to my heart, as it makes me feel like I am truly at my second home. This just shows that I am having such a life-changing experience, and I will continue to work hard and make a positive difference in the community.”

What I enjoy most about Fairfield University
I am thoroughly enjoying my classes this semester, and my grades thus far are reflecting the hard work that I am putting in. I also have time to do the extra things I love, such as playing clarinet in the Fairfield University Symphony Orchestra and working as an Admissions Tour Ambassador. Most importantly, I have time to volunteer in the community. Thus far, the most rewarding service I have undertaken is with the Collegiate Health Service Corps. Along with a few other students from other colleges, I travel to permanent supportive housing communities in Bridgeport each week to work with the resident families, providing them with the programs and services that will increase their quality of life.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite experience at Fairfield was Convocation in fall 2017 when my whole class gathered behind Bellarmine Hall. This is still inspirational for me to this day because it demonstrates coming full circle when I graduate four years later in the same spot.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I joined the women’s rowing team, which teaches me to work hard and appreciate constructive feedback on my skills when rowing. It is hard work, but I love how much it pushes me. Along with the rowing team, I am a health and wellness intern for the campus dietician this semester, working on creating wellness days in the dining hall.

My plans after graduation
Currently, I am considering joining the Peace Corps after graduation. I am interested in this program because of my passion and drive to help others and make a positive change in this world, and to be hands on with people in areas that need the most help.

THANK YOU
“Thank you very much for this opportunity. Without your help I honestly do not know how I would have been able to pursue my education at Fairfield University. So, I greatly appreciate the consideration and opportunity, and I will do my best to do right by your decision. I also hope to go on to help and inspire others, since I want to pay it forward and extend a helping hand. Thank you.”

What I enjoy most about Fairfield University
When I look at Fairfield as a whole, I essentially enjoy that this place has allowed me to experience something new. The University has given me an array of new experiences that I will never forget. If I had not attended Fairfield, I believe I would have missed out on certain opportunities. Thus, I cherish and enjoy what this University has done and what it will continue to do for me.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
The class that I valued most was an Introduction to Engineering class that I took my first semester here. We learned about all of the different types of engineering studies, even if you had already declared a field of study. The class helped you either find the engineering major that was best for you or confirmed your decision. The kicker was the project for the course which was called, “Walk on Water”. The objective of the project was to build an apparatus that would allow you to technically walk on water through teamwork and inevitable problem solving. This was a wonderful experience I will never forget.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I am vice president of the Black Student Union, president and co-founder of the National Society of Black Engineers Fairfield Chapter (NSBE), a tour ambassador, Health Center student worker, intramural referee, and a member of the men’s club basketball team.

My plans after graduation
My post-graduation plans are to ultimately find a successful job at an engineering firm, and then to attend and graduate culinary school. In addition to this, I would like to gain my master’s degree in software engineering.

THANK YOU
“Sincerely, THANK YOU for giving me the opportunity to pursue my Fairfield University education; your support is incredibly helpful to me. Without your generosity, I could not benefit from all that Fairfield has to offer. The older I get, the more I understand that everyone has a choice about how to spend their money. It is very admirable that you have agreed to put your trust in me to succeed. I won’t let you down!”

What I enjoy most about Fairfield University
I am so happy to have chosen Fairfield University, because it provides me the academic and athletic opportunities that I need to be successful today and in the future. I like the small classroom setting because I can really get to know my professors on a first-name basis. The professors are approachable, and this has proven to be very helpful in my academic experience and helped me improve my personal communication skills. As a member of the Fairfield swimming and diving team, I have an added sense of belonging and have been able to develop the time management skills necessary to succeed. The Fairfield University community embraces unique strengths and provides needed support on demand. Every day when I interact with friends, professors, coaches, and peers, I am reminded that I made a great decision in choosing to attend Fairfield.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
In February 2018, Fairfield Women’s Swimming & Diving won the MAAC championship for the first time in school history! Much time, effort, focus, and training was spent aiming to achieve that goal. In addition, I personally won two individual titles, placing third in an event and being part of a winning relay team. The swim team has given me a second family and a home away from home. Celebrating success with my teammates has made my Fairfield experience so much better. Through the coaching leadership, I’ve also been able to help my community in service projects, and I have found this to be personally rewarding.

Honors or awards I have received
I was the Fairfield Female Swimmer of the Year after my first year. I hold several school records for swimming events and American records for Team USA (Paralympic). I am the current MAAC Conference Champion in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke. I am the current World Paralympic Champion in the 100m Breaststroke. I was chosen by the World Paralympic committee to take over their Instagram account for a day to highlight Albinism and dispel myths about the condition.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
Fairfield secures guest speakers at the Quick Center, and having access to these great events has helped me learn and to be inspired for the future. Diversity is highlighted and we are exposed to many different topics. Such exposure to a variety of viewpoints is of interest to me, as it helps me further define who I am and how I approach each day.

My plans after graduation
Honestly, I have several paths I am considering and I understand that life sometimes throws you a surprise. I am interested in social media and promoting causes through many platforms. My goal is to find a position with a company that challenges employees and recognizes each employee’s strengths. Since I can’t drive, due to being legally blind, I do look forward to a job in a location where public transportation is the norm. I also plan to continue my swimming career.

THANK YOU
“Thank you so much for your generous support. I want you to know that I am very grateful for your help and will use the opportunity I was given to pay it forward. My ultimate goal is to help the cycle of positivity prevail within my community. Thank you again for this honor.”

What I enjoy most about Fairfield University
What I enjoy the most about Fairfield is the feeling of a tight-knit community and the development of a second family that does not only apply to my friends, but also includes my professors and the staff. Despite being a commuter, I still feel like I am part of the community and get to enjoy everything Fairfield has to offer academically and for leisure. I always have someone to offer me advice about many things, like helping me choose a course for the semester or offering guidance about clubs I should join. Having such a close network of people in a place like Fairfield has contributed the most to my positive experience.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite class at the moment is my American Social Protest class. The class includes discussions about major literature pieces that deal with controversial issues like slavery, racism, injustice, and prejudice in America. Along with the discussions about the literature, it is also a service learning class which means it requires community service to be completed by students enrolled in the course. As a student in high school, I always enjoyed community service and found it helpful with my ambition to serve members of my community. We traveled to Geraldine Claytor Magnet in the Black Rock area in Bridgeport, CT where we engaged with the young students discussing serious issues like police brutality and injustice over the book, "The Hate U Give" by Angie Thomas. A classmate and I led a class discussion about the serious matters of police brutality relating it to the book (It was a success!).

Honors or awards I have received
Rising Stag Award (Redefining Leadership)

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
Black Student Union - My membership in BSU has meant a lot to me, as it has helped me with self-identity and allowed me to connect with students at Fairfield who share similar backgrounds and stories.

Fairfield University Student Association (Senator) - My membership in FUSA has also meant a lot, as I get to be one of three representatives of my sophomore class and voice discrepancies of my class and advocate to student congress.

Iracambi, Brazil Research Center Intern (Global Scholars Program Intern) - I was given the opportunity to travel abroad to Brazil and aid in environmental research efforts at the Iracambi Research Center. My one month internship saw me help with a marketing campaign and learn about sustainable agriculture farming methods, and more.

Jesuit University Humanitarian Action Network - My membership in JUHAN has been a great experience as it’s contributed to my goals of performing humanitarian aid. Over spring break of last year, I was able to go to Abilene, Texas and work with refugees who fled their home countries, such as Uganda, Congo, Syria, and many more, to find opportunities in America. The experience in Texas was very meaningful and I plan on returning again with more of my friends who now are interested due to my positive experience.

My plans after graduation
My post-grad plans are to attend a school with a physical therapy program like Marist, Sacred Heart, Springfield, or others to get certified to practice. Ultimately, I want my work in physical therapy to benefit the unfortunate and use my experience to help as a Humanitarian aid.

My experience at Fairfield has altered my perspective because it has made me become a more caring leader. I have been educated about Jesuit values which have inspired me to strive to be a better person and help others.

I could not be more thankful for your generosity.”

What I enjoy most about Fairfield University
My route to Fairfield was a little different than most. Fairfield University was my dream school, but I ended up attending another school on a golf scholarship. During my freshman year, I learned the golf program was being eliminated due to budget cuts. I needed to find a new school if I wanted my career as a college athlete to live on. The wish I put out to the world became reality, and I started my sophomore year here at Fairfield as a member of the women’s golf program. This experience so far has been tremendous. I love the atmosphere and making connections with new and successful people every day.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite experiences at Fairfield so far have been traveling with my team, and attending other sporting and regular events on campus. I love being a part of the atmosphere that is created by the students here. The camaraderie is amazing, and it really makes me thankful to be a Stag.

Honors or awards I have received

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
Being a member of the women’s golf team at Fairfield has really enhanced my experience. There is nothing better than being part of a team and playing for your school. We spend a lot of time together throughout the school year, whether we are traveling, at practice, at workouts, or even hanging out on the weekend. Through golf, I have met amazing people and have become part of the Athletics community. The Fairfield Athletics community is one that supports each other, and I am really appreciative of that. I have been guided in the right direction in terms of how I can get involved in Fairfield and how to make the most of my time here.

My plans after graduation
After my four years are completed at Fairfield, I plan to stay for my fifth year and earn a master’s degree in either social work or education. From there, I look to be someone who will assist others. Whether it be by having my own private practice or educating young minds, I look to serve my community in one way or another.

THANK YOU
“I just want to express how honored and grateful I am to have received your support. Because of it, I have been given the opportunity to continue my dream of what I believe I was destined to do, while fueling my motivation to keep striving for the attainment of all my goals. Thank you. ”

What I enjoy most about Fairfield University
One word… opportunities. Fairfield University goes above and beyond to grant their students access to fulfilling opportunities, whether it is in relation to the career they may be pursuing, events and resources for personal and professional growth, or the chance to take on a leadership role within your student body, the opportunities here are endless and not a lot of individuals get the privilege to say or experience that. Therefore, I am eternally grateful.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
There are so many, but my favorite and most memorable experiences involve my time spent as a Resident Assistant and in my nursing clinical rotations. As a Resident Assistant I serve as an academic, personal, and residential resource for the first-year population, where I am able to build community through building and floor-wide, social, intellectual, and developmental programs. Through both my experiences as a Resident Assistant and a student within clinical rotation, I have gained constant exposure and have been equipped with essential tools necessary for my future career as a healthcare professional. This includes the strengthening of my leadership skills, such as team orientation, effective communication, strategizing, conflict management; the list is endless.

Honors or awards I have received
Hardiman Scholar, C.R. Foundation Nursing Scholar, E. Gerald Corrigan Scholar, Loyola Scholar, Glee Club Scholar

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
Being a Resident Assistant has been a great outlet to do what I am most passionate about, and that is be of service to others. In addition, I recently volunteered during an immersion trip with Campus Ministry to Quito, Ecuador and engaged with the Working Boy Center organization. I gained so much exposure and awareness of the culture, ideology, and social injustices, and this experience continued to fuel my aspiration for working with children and pursuing traveling nursing. I feel like it is my responsibility as a future health care professional and as a U.S. citizen to educate myself, so that I can utilize my platform as a future nurse practitioner to make a positive impact both locally and internationally. As a student researcher, I have performed music therapy to determine its influence amongst the cognitively impaired geriatric population. I am also an active member of the Glee Club, the Jesuit Universities Humanitarian Action Network, ZAM, Student Nurses Association and hold a Work Study position in Campus Ministry. All of these activities and interests have allowed me to exert the passion within me and have inspired my academic, professional, spiritual, social and personal growth.

My plans after graduation
The passions that I embody, the career that I pursue, and my values and aspirations direct me towards helping others. Therefore, I plan to continue furthering my education after receiving my bachelor’s in nursing to become a nurse practitioner. I plan to one day open my own practice, specializing within pediatrics. My interest in working with children stems from the importance of child development; children’s experiences and environments inevitably impact the individual they will become. To be a provider of care during such a vital part of their life would bring me nothing but honest joy. Furthermore, since I am captivated by exposure to different cultures and ideologies, and am aware of the social injustices within this world, I would like to participate in traveling nursing and create an organization or charity to ensure that individuals have access to quality medical care, in hopes of ending medical disparities and inequalities.

In your honor, I promise to continue trying my hardest in my classes and taking advantage of every opportunity given to me, so that I will be prepared for whatever is in store for the future.”

What I enjoy most about Fairfield University
I enjoy the clubs most about Fairfield University. Through Engineers Without Borders, I was able to travel to Carmen Pampa, Bolivia and work on a water filtration system. My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite class at Fairfield University is my biomechanics class where we learn how to apply physics concepts to the body. I enjoy this class because I learn a lot about bioengineering concepts. In this class, we perform many laboratory sessions to learn how to record signals from the body when lifting weights or doing dynamic exercises.

Honors or awards I have received
I have been awarded Dean’s List for each semester of my time here at Fairfield.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
A large part of my life is fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. This passion pushed me to join a club on campuscalled PLAG (Play Like a Girl), and run for an executive position. Through this club I have been able to help others incorporate fitness into their lives, give back to the Fairfield community through volunteer work, and meet many amazing friends. I have met so many amazing people through this club.

My plans after graduation
After graduation, I hope to be placed into a job where I can truly make a difference in the world. As a biomedical engineer, I plan to help those who need medical miracles. I am hoping to do work specifically with prosthetics, but my aspirations are constantly changing as I am learning new material.

The faculty and staff are extremely friendly and make it their goal to ensure my time here is well-spent and enjoyable. I love it here!

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite experience, thus far, at Fairfield was participating in Senior Week. From the day final exams ended to the day of graduation, I was teamed with a group of fellow underclassmen to create the best possible time for the seniors’ final days here. The week was filled with hard work and early mornings, but I met so many great people, and had too many laughs to count. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

“THANK YOU
No words can describe how appreciative and thankful I am for your support. It encourages me to continue to challenge and push myself to continue to learn and be a woman for others. For that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
I decided to attend Fairfield University for its rigorous curriculum, small class sizes, wonderful faculty, proximity to home, and the many opportunities for the future. Everything that I came for has proven to be true and then some – I have made strong connections with my peers and found mentors that act as a support system.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
I have been able to be a participant in many intriguing, mind-provoking classes. However, my favorite class has been People, Places, and Global Issues. This class has given me a better geographical grasp of the Middle East and Africa, which satisfies me because I am an individual who wishes to touch ground at every possible place in the world.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
My experience at Fairfield has been shaped by my involvement on campus. My role as a manager of the Women’s Basketball team keeps me involved in a lost love, basketball, while also helping to develop and polish my ability to handle responsibility. Similarly, my involvement in the Remixx Dance Team challenges my passion for expression through dance while also creating a familial environment. In addition, my role as a C.A.R.E (Community Advocate and Relationship Educator) leader has allowed me to grow as an individual.

My plans after graduation
My plan after graduation is to continue my path in higher education by pursuing my master’s degree. Then, I want to work for a non-governmental organization in the Middle East so that I can learn Arabic and gain field experience. Once I am familiar with Arabic, I will apply to the United Nations.

What I enjoy most about Fairfield University
I have been in love with the academic environment at Fairfield since I was a first-year student. Especially, in the School of Engineering, I have had great relationships with not only friends who have similar goals as me, but also with the professors who are very helpful and passionate. They care for each student’s success in class and even meet up personally with them for encouragement. I also love the warm, welcoming environment whenever I am looking for help. Most importantly, Fairfield truly values academically high-achieving, hardworking students by reaching out to them with special scholarships and opportunities that are extremely helpful for students.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My most valuable experience at Fairfield was the Baja Buggy project.

Honors or awards I have received
Dean’s List

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
Currently I am a member of the ASME and IEEE student-chapter clubs at Fairfield. Since the spring 2018, I have participated in a research project named Optical Oncology with Dr. Min Xu from the Physics Department. My role is to record data with the microscope and process them with MATLAB. These experiences have really intrigued my enthusiasm in the field of engineering. My perspective about Fairfield’s Engineering Department has changed greatly also. Instead of looking at it as a small engineering school, I see it as a place where there are a lot of opportunities for me to make a big impact. I also do intramural soccer, which is great to keep me healthy and connected with other students with the same hobby. In terms of extracurricular activities, I take part in the Asian Student Association, and last year I helped them set up their biggest event, Flavors of Asia. Beside clubs, athletic and extracurricular activities, I have been working at the Tully Dining Hall as a part-time, on-campus job.

My plans after graduation
My top post-graduate plan is to pursue a master’s degree in mechanical engineering or robotics engineering. Along with that, I will find a job in the field of mechanical engineering, preferably in mechatronics, design or mechanics system.

I would like to thank you for your generous support. I am very grateful you have given me the opportunity to continue to pursue my passions at Fairfield University. I appreciate this gesture and I can assure you I will continue to work hard and strive for excellence. ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
I enjoy having the opportunity to form close connections with my professors and peers while networking all throughout campus. I love how our Jesuit values are implemented into our learning which allows me to connect them back to my daily lifestyle continuously. I truly enjoy being able to give back to our surrounding communities and appreciate that they give back to our university. The experiences I have been a part of on and off campus have shaped me into who I am and who I am becoming. I am so grateful that our Jesuit education consistently allows me to grow as a person. Fairfield University is my home away from home and I am so proud to be a part of Stag Country!

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
I have taken many interesting courses that have been taught by wonderful professors. Based on my experiences, my favorite courses are defintely my education courses. The first course I could take for my Educational Studies minor was Explorations in Education. In this class, I was able to travel to a local elementary school, Cesar Batalla and gain hands on expereince working with teacher and students. This class opened my eyes to truly see what it takes to be an elementary school teacher, thus helping me to soldify my dream of one day filling that position.

Honors or awards I have received
During my past two years, I have worked hard to achieve success academically and earn leadership positions in clubs or organizations’ I am proud to take part in. I have successfully made the Dean’s List for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters, and I will continue to work hard to achieve this goal. I have been a teacher intern for my Psychology and Law class and a Service Learning Associate for a teaching and writing course. During these positions, I could directly apply techniques I was learning and observing in my Education courses. Also, I recently have been selected as the Play Like a Girl Executive Assistant and member of the Executive Board for the Tour Ambassador program. These leadership positions allow me to take initiatives and make sure these programs continue to succeed.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
One experience that has enhanced my college experience and overall career was my internship with the Connecticut Writing Project. Dr. Crandall, a professor in Fairfield’s Educational Program, and Director of the Connecticut Writing Program, hired me to create lesson plans, execute mini lessons in the classroom, and collaborate with teachers focusing on literacy and language. I am forever grateful for this opportunity, hand-on experience, and I look forward to my ability to continue to grow within this program during Summer 2019.

My plans after graduation
After graduation, I plan to teach at a local elementary school. My dream job is to teach third grade; however, I would be delighted to teach any elementary grade. My long-term goal is to one day become a Principal for an elementary school.

Primarily, the strong support system that exists at Fairfield allows me to do just this. Whether it is an upperclassman I bonded with at a club, or a professor who assisted me while I was struggling in a class, the number of resources and amount of guidance I have at Fairfield is endless. It has shown me what a true community is, and is something I hope to carry over in future environments.

THANK YOU
“Fairfield University is an amazing place that I am extremely appreciative to be able to attend. Your generosity helps make this opportunity possible. Fairfield has given me so much. I am not only learning academics and preparing for a business career, but I am learning about life and about myself, and making memories and lifetime friends. I am dedicated to my education and serious about my future. Your support is helping to make my dreams of a Fairfield education come true. Thank you!”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
All my experiences at Fairfield, from athletics to academics to extra-curricular activities and leadership roles, have already greatly influenced my life, shaping the person I have become. The variety of activities and groups available to join at the University have given me the opportunity to meet and work alongside fellow students and professors I would never have met anywhere else. I have learned so much about life and myself. I am an only child and grew up in a tight Catholic family and community where everyone had the same perspective on life. Being a part of the Fairfield community has opened my eyes to a whole different world. The different backgrounds, opinions, and personalities challenged me, but also made me a stronger person, better friend, more accepting, and more open-minded.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
I’ve had so many amazing experiences at Fairfield; it’s not easy to describe only one. So, I’ll describe the first experience I had, which was joining the golf team. Yes, playing Division I golf is amazing, but what made my experience so great were the actual players and coach. From move-in day, the team welcomed me to the campus. I just moved here from Maryland and knew absolutely no one. The team introduced me to all of their friends and to other incoming first-year students; they showed me around campus and the town; supported, motivated and mentored me; and ultimately gave me the confidence to succeed in golf and in the classroom. They inspired me to treat others the same way. Being a student-athlete gave me more than I could have ever imagined. Not only was the transition into college a success, I have made a lifetime of memories and friends.

Honors or awards I have received
As a member of the golf team, I have qualified for every tournament in both the fall and spring season. My greatest accomplishment was being named a New Student Leader for the incoming class. The application, interviewing, and training process was a challenge, and it was a great honor to be selected to represent Fairfield and be a role model for first-year students. I was also elected to be a member of FUSA Treasury for the upcoming school year, as well as nominated for a leadership position in the Dolan Partners Program. I am confident all of these roles will enhance my Fairfield experience and strengthen my leadership skills, helping me to ultimately lead a successful career and rewarding, happy life.

My plans after graduation
My immediate plans after graduation is to attend Officer Candidate School for the Navy, where I will be given the working knowledge and training to assume the responsibilities of an officer. Following that graduation, I will combine my experiences and degree from Fairfield University with my officer training to begin a career with the Navy.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I don’t know how I can express more gratitude to you for making this possible. It motivates me to keep polishing myself as an ethical and responsible person, ready to face the world and the challenges to come. It’s a motivation to keep pursuing my studies and do the best that I can. Thank you again for this amazing opportunity. ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
Fairfield University gave me the opportunity to make my high school dream of studying outside of Puerto Rico possible. Going to live in a new environment far away from home sounded scary, but after my first year at Fairfield I can say it helped me develop a stronger sense of self. Now, I see myself as a woman who looks for challenges or as the Jesuits would say, looking for “more.” Fairfield has incited my desire for knowledge.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite experience at Fairfield University was bumping into Italian language Professor Sara Díaz in a study abroad information session in September 2016. The following month, I had the crazy idea of taking an Italian placement test and taking Elementary Italian II without any prior knowledge of Italian. I went to her office and she encouraged me to do it. This moment reiterated that Fairfield professors are there for the students. I placed in and chose Professor Díaz as my Italian professor. She made the class become my favorite at Fairfield.

Honors or awards I have received
Dean’s List and Magis Scholarship recipient

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I was nominated for the College of Arts & Sciences Bellarmine Scholars program to study abroad in Florence, Italy. This was the most amazing opportunity I’ve had with Fairfield so far. It broadened my horizons and confirmed that I belong in today’s world. My career must be global! Also, being a member of the Fairfield University Martial Arts team has shown me that I don’t have to change who I am to be accepted.

My plans after graduation
I want to apply to graduate school for an MBA and continue my studies in foreign languages. In the long term, I see myself either managing a global company or being the entrepreneur of an international equestrian stable.

THANK YOU
“To say I am thankful would be an understatement. I simply cannot find the right words to express how grateful I am, other than to say I am blessed to have your support. You are making my dreams come true, and making experiences I otherwise would not be able to have possible. Thank you for being my light, and making my college education a reality for me.”

What I enjoy most about Fairfield University
Fairfield offers exceptional academics, which was an important aspect in my decision to attend this University. I find all of my classes to be extremely interesting, challenging, and essential learning experiences to my education, as not only a nurse, but as a well-rounded liberal arts student. The community on campus has been extremely welcoming, and I feel as though I have found my place here.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
Although, I am a nursing major, and all of the courses I have taken so far have made me excited for the future, my favorite class at Fairfield is French. I find the language to be truly beautiful, and I enjoy the challenge of learning the language because I believe it will make me a better healthcare provider. I look forward to using French in my nursing practice and making myself an advocate for the clients I meet throughout my career who need a voice, especially in the United States.

Honors or awards I have received
I am proud to say I have continued to maintain my status on the Dean’s List throughout my time at Fairfield.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
Some interests that have shaped my time at Fairfield include the Ignatian Leadership Residential College, Student Nurses Association, Colleges Against Cancer, and the Cura Personalis Mentor Program. I feel each experience I am granted at this University has allowed me to expand on my growth and development as an individual, and participate in programs that embody my core values and beliefs. I hold the time and opportunity I have at Fairfield as sacred, and truly a blessing; therefore, I am thankful.

My plans after graduation
After graduation, I see myself working abroad in an underserved population, and if I am fortunate, this will be in a French speaking country. I also wish to continue my education to become a nurse practitioner.
