“THANK YOU
I would like to thank you for your kind support, which allows us to continue to work hard every day on the court in order to establish Fairfield University as a top competitor in the MAAC. ”

What I most enjoy about being a member of a Fairfield University Athletic Team
Being a student-athlete at Fairfield University means I am part of a larger athletics family. I have developed meaningful and lifelong friendships since joining the Fairfield Athletics community, specifically the Women’s Basketball team. I have improved and grown not only as an athlete but also as a person throughout my undergraduate education. I am so thankful to have worn a Fairfield jersey for five years and will always be a proud Stag.

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
My experience at Fairfield has allowed me to see the world in a new light due to our required core classes and Jesuit ideals. The core curriculum allowed me to take courses I otherwise would not have considered, which allowed me to understand the world from a different perspective than my own. I was constantly surrounded by caring and helpful professors, classmates, teammates, and coaches from many different states and even different countries. My coaches and teammates pushed me to improve as a basketball player and constantly believed in my abilities both on the court and in the classroom. With their help and my Fairfield Jesuit education, I have grown both as an athlete and as a person.

My plans after graduation
My current plans after graduation are to continue to play basketball overseas. I also plan on applying to optometry schools in Canada and the United States in the near future.

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
My Fairfield experience has altered my overall perspective greatly. One of the major aspects that changed my view is being exposed to people from different races and different beliefs. This experience truly broadened my outlook of the world. Through Fairfield I am able to interact with different people and learn new and fascinating things every day that I feel I would not have be exposed to anywhere else.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
I consider several professors as my favorites and I cherish my relationships with them greatly. These professors were more than just teachers to me, they served as my mentors and helped me grow during my years at Fairfield. Along with the professors, other administrators in the Dolan School of Business also contributed to my success at Fairfield. They provided me with numerous opportunities to help me better myself as a person and professional and I can honestly say I would not be the person I am today without their support.

Honors or awards I have received
Dean’s List, Beta Alpha Psi (National Accounting Honor Society), and Alpha Mu Gamma (Foreign Language Honor Society)

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I’ve had the opportunity to explore the following experiences through Fairfield: President of Bowling Club, intramural basketball, summer internship with PwC, winter internship with Morgan Stanley, member of the Dolan Student Advisory Committee (DSAC), and member of the Dolan Partners Program.

My plans after graduation
My plans after graduation are to either attend graduate school to achieve a law degree or gain my 150 credit hours to begin preparing for the CPA exam. If I do not attend graduate school right after graduation, I plan to work at either one of the “Big 4” accounting firms or an investment firm for a few years to gain work experience, then attend graduate school.

“THANK YOU
No words can describe how appreciative and thankful I am for your support. It encourages me to continue to challenge and push myself to continue to learn and be a woman for others. For that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
I decided to attend Fairfield University for its rigorous curriculum, small class sizes, wonderful faculty, proximity to home, and the many opportunities for the future. Everything that I came for has proven to be true and then some – I have made strong connections with my peers and found mentors that act as a support system.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
I have been able to be a participant in many intriguing, mind-provoking classes. However, my favorite class has been People, Places, and Global Issues. This class has given me a better geographical grasp of the Middle East and Africa, which satisfies me because I am an individual who wishes to touch ground at every possible place in the world.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
My experience at Fairfield has been shaped by my involvement on campus. My role as a manager of the Women’s Basketball team keeps me involved in a lost love, basketball, while also helping to develop and polish my ability to handle responsibility. Similarly, my involvement in the Remixx Dance Team challenges my passion for expression through dance while also creating a familial environment. In addition, my role as a C.A.R.E (Community Advocate and Relationship Educator) leader has allowed me to grow as an individual.

My plans after graduation
My plan after graduation is to continue my path in higher education by pursuing my master’s degree. Then, I want to work for a non-governmental organization in the Middle East so that I can learn Arabic and gain field experience. Once I am familiar with Arabic, I will apply to the United Nations.

“THANK YOU
I would like to express my utmost thanks and appreciation to those who made it possible for me to attend this fine and prestigious university. This opportunity and experience has been the best of my life. ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
Throughout my years here, I have grown exponentially as a person, a human being, and as a man. I challenged myself to learn new things and increased my knowledge of the world around me. This time has prepared me for my next step into my future as I seek to carve out my own slice of life in the world I am about to become a part of. I have gained a better understanding of justice movements and their salience, enriched my faith through Jesuit values, and become the mature, well-rounded, and well-adjusted man I am today thanks to Fairfield University.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
I have enjoyed many classes and experiences at Fairfield — my politics class most of all. I was able to engage with ideas that are important to me and further my understanding of the tenets that are critical to our great society. Economics gave me the ability to understand the world and how our globalized economy affects all of us. My favorite class experience was taking the American Presidency during the 2016 Presidential Election, in the Fall 2016 semester of my junior year. The class allowed us to debate and speak to the election as it was happening and its political importance.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
During my time at Fairfield I became involved with our Club Sailing team. I joined as a first-year student and helped to grow the team from six active members in 2014, to 36 active members today in 2018. I served two consecutive terms as the secretary of the team and then I served as the captain during my senior year. The team offered me an escape from campus four days a week. It was an incredible experience – going out and sailing on the water with the team I helped build. The comradery we shared as teammates exemplifies one of the best experiences I had during my four years here. I worked as a paid intern during the 2016 congressional elections. I worked for Jack Martins’ Congressional campaign, as well as in his State Senator’s office, and on his successor’s campaign.

My plans after graduation
After graduation I plan to get a job. I am currently applying to several different places, including as a Legislative Aid for my local congressman and other elected officers in my area. My hope is to eventually attend law school.

“THANK YOU
Thank you very much for your generous support. You have helped to minimize my financial burden and allowed me to focus more on the most important aspect of school – learning. I hope one day I will be able to help other students pursue their dreams and achieve their goals just as you have helped me. Thank you! ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
As an international student I can certainly say that Fairfield University is a great fit for me. When I was applying to various universities I was looking for a specific school that would challenge me to step outside of my comfort zone, a school where I could pursue intensive studies while making lifelong friends, and that would train me for a professional life. I found all of these traits and more during my three years at Fairfield University.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
I will undoubtedly say that every class that I took at Fairfield University had a positive impact on me as a person. But, my favorite class was “Introduction to Management.” This class made me feel like I was already part of the professional world. Every class of “Introduction to Management” was exciting for me.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I have been a part of a few clubs on campus, including the Finance Club. Throughout the semester, the Finance Club held various meetings and brought interesting speakers to talk to members. All of the professionals that came to speak to us shared their knowledge and experience outside of Fairfield and in the finance world.

My plans after graduation
I am considering continuing my education by attending graduate school.

“THANK YOU
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your generosity. Your support has allowed me to discover the world and myself under the guidance of the finest University. The people I have met and the things I have accomplished in my short time at Fairfield have changed me, and for that I am eternally grateful. Thank you. ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
My experiences at Fairfield have influenced and shaped me into the person I am today. The cardinal Jesuit themes of Men and Women for Others, Reflection, Cura Personalis, and Magis have opened my eyes and heart to what it really means to be a person in this world. These themes have given me the passion and drive to pursue leadership opportunities, immersion experiences, community service, and more — all with the final goal of improving just a small piece of this community and this world. Without Fairfield University, I may never have found the passion and love that I hold so dearly for others and for the members of this community, which drives me to pursue a career centered upon improving the lives of everyone I can reach.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite class has been my Biomedical Visualization course. I learned countless principles and skills in the art of Data Visualization while working on exciting projects that I am proud to have accomplished. These projects involved taking real-world data to visualize hurricanes, CT scans, x-rays, geographical maps, and more. Having taken this course has also proven to be extremely helpful as I continue to work on my Senior Design Capstone project, which is centered on building a mobile application using vast quantities of air quality data.

Honors or awards I have received
Dean’s List

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
To date, I have led and directed three Campus Ministry retreats, and currently serve as the Student Program Coordinator for the bi-annual Kairos Retreat. I have travelled to Kingston, Jamaica and Navajo Nation, New Mexico through Campus Ministry-based immersion programs. These two experiences have had an incredible influence on how I see the world and how I seek to use my education to make this world a better place.

My most influential experience at Fairfield has been studying abroad during a five-week summer program in Florence, Italy. My study abroad experience coupled with my service trip experiences have opened my eyes to the beauty of this world and have given me insight that will stay with me through my entire life. In addition to these travel experiences, I went to Walt Disney World with the Academic and Career Development Center to participate in the Disney Leadership Program in January 2018. This program is a three-day class taken with 20 fellow Fairfield classmates, and is centered upon developing leadership skills using the wildly successful Disney Leadership Strategies. During this program, I also networked with current Disney employees and Fairfield alumni.

My plans after graduation
After graduation, I will be remaining at Fairfield as a full-time student for a fifth year to complete my Masters in Computer Engineering. I am on track to complete my Masters in May 2019.

“THANK YOU
There are no words to describe the level of gratitude I have for your generosity. You have genuinely enhanced my experience as a student at Fairfield that would not be possible without your support. I sincerely appreciate the kindness you have extended and the impact you have had on my life. ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective:
Since I have been at Fairfield, I think I have learned more about myself than I have in all of my life before Fairfield. The most important piece of my Fairfield experience has been my growth as a leader. Between academics and extracurricular interests, I have a busy schedule that has encouraged me to work harder than ever. As a result, I have grasped a far better understanding of where my true priorities are and what I genuinely value in my life.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University:
So far, my favorite class at Fairfield has been Minds and Bodies, a course in the Honors Program. This class forced me to think critically about how humans compare to the rest of life on Earth and what makes us unique. This was especially intriguing to me because I learned much about life on Earth that I was previously unaware of and also gained new perspectives as to how humans fit into the big picture. This course was a real eye-opener and I came to appreciate that when reflecting back on the course.

Honors or awards I have received:
Honors Program, Magis Scholar, Dean’s List

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
This year, I was a resident assistant for first-year students in Campion Hall. This role has tremendously enhanced my college experience in the sense that I know I have had a positive impact on the lives of many students during their first taste of a college lifestyle. In addition to this, I am also vice president of the Economics Club. This has helped me continue my role as a leader on campus and helped me extend my interest in economics outside of the classroom.

My plans after graduation
Following graduation, I do not have any definite plans in place. I am interested in attending grad school to gain a more in-depth understanding of Economics. I am currently looking into a variety of internships at insurance companies and several other different types of firms where I would be involved with financial analysis or wealth management.

“THANK YOU
I feel so blessed to have been given the opportunity to continue to pursue my passions at Fairfield University. I appreciate this gesture and can assure you that I will continue to work hard and strive for excellence. Thank you so much for your wonderful support. ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
I enjoy having the opportunity to form personal connections with my professors and peers while networking here at Fairfield University. I love our student-professor ratio in classes and the Jesuit values that are implemented into our learning. For example, I am living in the McCormick Residence Hall which focuses on social justice in our community and we get involved and take action in service opportunities both on and off campus. I am so grateful that our Jesuit education consistently allows me to grow as a person. Fairfield University is my home away from home and I am so proud to be a part of its wonderful community.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite class at Fairfield is Explorations in Education. This is the first class I can participate in to help fulfill my minor in Educational Studies. I enjoy being able to travel once a week to Ceasar Batalla elementary school and gain hands on experience by working with both teachers and students. This class has opened my eyes to truly see what it takes to be an elementary school teacher, thus helping me to soldify my dream of one day filling that position.

Honors or awards I have received
I have been presented with numerous opportunities. I earned positions as a tour ambassador and the secretary for my residence hall’s RHA. I am ecstatic to be given the chance to share my love for Fairfield University to prospective students and create programs throughout my residential hall to ensure our building has a sense of community that is consistent throughout campus.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I am a part of various activities, clubs, and extracurriculars on campus. I am an office assistant, tour ambassador, and part of the Shadow a Stag program for the office of admissions. Shadow a Stag allows me to give prospective students the opportunity to experience college life such as, attending a class, eating at the dining hall, and visiting a residence hall. I participate in the McCormick Service Committee where we plan different service opportunities for our building, and I also mentor first-year students, thus helping them adjust to college life.

My plans after graduation
After graduation, I plan to teach at a local elementary school. My dream job is to teach third grade; however, I would be delighted to teach any elementary-aged children. My long-term goal is to one day become a principal for an elementary school.

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
My experience at Fairfield has altered my perspective because it has made me become a more caring leader. I have been educated about Jesuit values which have inspired me to strive to be a better person and help others.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite class has been Human Physiology because it focuses on the body a lot more than the core general biology classes. I want to be a surgeon and the topics discussed in this class are similar to those that I will learn in medical school.

Honors or awards I have received
I am a member of Alpha Mu Gamma, the Foreign Language Honor Society for Spanish, and was also on the Dean’s List.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I am a member of the Commuter Student Association and Fairfield Connect. I enjoy volunteering at Yale New Haven Hospital by performing rounds and helping patients. Over the summer, I had the privilege of shadowing a doctor with her patients and in surgery.

My plans after graduation

"THANK YOU
Your contribution to my education will allow me to continue to focus on learning and growing as a Fairfield University student. I pledge to continue to do my best in all aspects of my college career and look to develop my whole person (mind, body, and spirit). I truly thank you for your generosity! "

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
Prior to attending Fairfield University, I was unsure about what I wanted to accomplish in life. I attended Accepted Students’ Day, where I found myself at the Dolan School of Business’ presentation, and I immediately found my direction. During the last couple of years at Fairfield I have been led on a path that I know is right for me. The faculty and staff have helped me realize that I can accomplish anything that I set out to do. My experience at Fairfield has shown me how much the world has to offer and that I have the ability to be successful and truly make a difference in my community.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
I have had many incredible classes and professors during the past few years. One class that has left a lasting impact on me was my Marketing 101 class. The professor’s knowledge of the subject matter and the care he had for every one of his students was remarkable. Every lecture was enjoyable, and the end of the semester project was unlike any project I had ever done. I developed skills in the field of marketing but also in how to market myself as a young professional.

Honors or awards I have received
Magis Scholarship, Bellarmine Scholarship, Dean’s List, 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Award, and Alpha Sigma Nu

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I am a member of the Fairfield University Division 1 Swim Team and on the NCAA Student Athletic Advisory Committee. Being a student-athlete has shown me how to manage my time wisely, to persevere in the toughest of situations, and to strengthen my communication and teamwork abilities. One of our team activities includes teaching swim lessons, which has been a wonderful way to get involved in the Fairfield community. In addition to swimming, I am a Eucharistic Minister through Campus Ministry. I have attended retreats and helped with toy drives during the holidays. It has been very rewarding to strengthen the bonds I have made with other ministry students and with God. Faith has played a very important role in my college experience.

My plans after graduation
I have accepted an internship offer with Deloitte for the summer of 2018 and hope that this will lead to a potential job after graduation. I plan to continue by education and pursue a fifth-year Master’s in Accounting to help me prepare for my CPA exams.

“THANK YOU
Thank you for making these years spent at Fairfield University possible! Without your generous support, I would not have cultivated such amazing friendships or learned more about myself and the beautiful world around me! ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
Something that I will be forever grateful to Fairfield University for is the Core. Through the Core I was introduced to a number of disciplines that I might not have otherwise explored like philosophy or international relations studies. When completing work or having discussions I often find that my thoughts are contextual and stem from an intersectional approach, giving me a much broader understanding of the world around me and my place in it.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
While all of my classes have been phenomenal, the classes that I took during my last semester of college were truly rich in terms of content and discussion. The intersectional approach through which I learned about the art of argument in my Seminar in Business Law, Regulation, and Applied Ethics course was incredibly interesting because of the emphasis it placed on narrative and language. I think I enjoyed this class most because of its connection to politics and law.

Honors or awards I have received
While at Fairfield I’ve had the honor of being a Global Scholars Award Recipient and presented with the Christopher B. Love Academic Achievement Award. Last year my resident assistant staff won Staff of the Year and I’ve also been nominated for two student leadership awards: Fairfield University Student Association Member of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
In the Jesuit spirit of Magis, I’ve tried to get involved in a number of activities to give and gain all I could as a member of the Fairfield community. I’ve served in the following capacities: senior resident assistant in Campion Hall, senior admissions fellow for the Office of Undergraduate Admissons, building manager and Conference Asssistant in the Barone Campus Center, Fairfield University Student Association Senate Committee Chair of Diversity and Inclusion, and as a global scholar interning at Tomorrow Trust – a nonprofit organization in Johannesburg, South Africa catering to education advancement. All of these activities have allowed me to gain immeasurable friendships, transferable skills, and countless memories.

My plans after graduation
Graduation is certainly bittersweet because I can’t fathom the thought of leaving Stag Country, but I am currently in the process of applying to law school with the long-term goal of being an attorney working for the United States Department of Justice.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I don’t know how I can express more gratitude to you for making this possible. It motivates me to keep polishing myself as an ethical and responsible person, ready to face the world and the challenges to come. It’s a motivation to keep pursuing my studies and do the best that I can. Thank you again for this amazing opportunity. ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
Fairfield University gave me the opportunity to make my high school dream of studying outside of Puerto Rico possible. Going to live in another country sounded scary, but after my first year at Fairfield I can say it helped me develop a stronger sense of self. Now, I see myself as a woman who looks for challenges or as the Jesuits would say, looking for “more.” Fairfield has incited my desire for knowledge.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite experience at Fairfield University was bumping into Italian language Professor Sara Díaz in a study abroad information session in September 2016. The following month, I had the crazy idea of taking an Italian placement test and taking Elementary Italian II without any prior knowledge of Italian. I went to her office and she encouraged me to do it. This moment reiterated that Fairfield professors are there for the students. I placed in and chose Professor Díaz as my Italian professor. She made the class become my favorite at Fairfield.

Honors or awards I have received
Dean’s List and Magis Scholarship recipient

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I was nominated for the College of Arts & Sciences Bellarmine Scholars program to study abroad in Florence, Italy. This was the most amazing opportunity I’ve had with Fairfield so far. It broadened my horizons and confirmed that I belong in today’s world. My career must be global! Also, being a member of the Fairfield University Martial Arts team has shown me that I don’t have to change who I am to be accepted.

My plans after graduation
I want to apply to graduate school for an MBA and continue my studies in foreign languages. In the long term, I see myself either managing a global company or being the entrepreneur of an international equestrian stable.

"I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support of Fairfield students allows me to achieve my dreams and always seize an opportunity. I will take your generosity with me for the rest of my life. Education this valuable is a rarity."

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
I came from a very small high school with no diversity and the majority of my classmates had similar view points. Coming to Fairfield, I have experienced inclusion and celebrated differences. During my first year, I celebrated my Greek Easter holiday alongside the Catholic Easter holiday in the Egan chapel. Experiences like this allowed me to be more accepting and open-minded, and I am a better person because of it.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite experiences at Fairfield University have been all of the service-learning opportunities. One of my education courses and Spanish courses provided service opportunities alongside students at Cesar Batalla Elementary school. I’ve also participated in service-learning immersion trips to South Dakota and Tanzania. These are unique opportunities not offered at many universities throughout the country.

Honors or awards I have received
I have made the Dean’s List on more than three separate occasions during my first three years here at Fairfield. I plan to apply for Alpha Mu Gamma in January, which is the foreign language honor society for Spanish. I have also maintained a GPA of 3.46.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I believe I have enhanced my college experience by taking advantage of all the activities at Fairfield University. I have studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. I am a member of JUHAN (Jesuit Universities Humanitarian Action Network) because I love immersion and serving my neighbors. I am also a part of Colleges Against Cancer and Best Buddies.

My plans after graduation
What I love about the future is its uncertainty. However, at this moment, my post undergraduate plans include applying for a NYC teaching fellowship while simultaneously working to obtain my master’s in education. My main areas of focus are special education and TESOL/ENL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages/English New Language).

"It is truly a blessing to be able to attend Fairfield, and your help makes it possible. This will enhance my future and the futures of my family and loved ones. It means a lot to me to be able to give back, and in the future I will return the favor to another student in need."

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
The core curriculum has altered my overall perspective. The core has allowed me to experience various courses that are different from my major and minor. The courses that are outside of my major gave me knowledge that I have been able to use in my major courses and even in different conversations. It is good to be well-rounded and knowledgeable across different subjects.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
This is my second year as a Resident Assistant and it has had a tremendous impact on my college experience. Being a Resident Assistant has strengthened my problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and helped me create and maintain lifelong relationships with residents. It is so rewarding to hear from last years’ residents that I was a great RA and that I have had an impact on their first year. Working for the Office of Conference & Event Management has also been rewarding, as I was able to experience being in a supervisory role during the summer.

My plans after graduation
As a senior, I am not sure what I am doing after graduation. I have been considering different graduate school programs, but have also been applying for jobs. Two career goals of mine are to work in Human Resources, preferably in a hospital, or to work in Admissions. I would love a job that allows me to travel, and admissions would allow me to do that.

"Thank you for supporting Fairfield University and students such as myself! I have been presented with the most unique opportunities here, and am so grateful I can continue to proudly represent the Fairfield community."

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
As an honors engineering student, I am in a position to take advantage of a plethora of possibilities and build the future that I want to live. Primarily, the strong support system that exists at Fairfield allows me to do just this. Whether it is an upperclassman I bonded with at a club, or a professor who assisted me while I was struggling in a class, the number of resources and amount of guidance I have at Fairfield is endless. It has shown me what a true community is, and is something I hope to carry over in future environments.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My General Chemistry II course was truly a highlight of my first year. My professor was a very dedicated and persistent man whose main goal was to see his students succeed. His passion and encouragement inspired me to continue with my studies in chemistry with confidence.

"Thank you to all those who have contributed to the Fairfield University community. With your support I have been able to attend Fairfield and create amazing experiences on campus with professors, faculty, and alumni."

My greatest learning experience at Fairfield University
My greatest learning experience at Fairfield has been my internship as the Marketing and Social Media Intern for Fairfield University’s Academic and Career Development Center. My duties include assisting the staff in all aspects of the marketing plan for the Career Center. While working with the staff of the ACDC, I have learned valuable skills and also networked with current faculty and Fairfield alumni. I already know that this experience will help me immensely in the future.

My other interests and how they have enhanced my experience at Fairfield
I have been a part of at Fairfield include Redefining Leadership and the Compass Fellowship. Redefining Leadership was a semester long freshmen seminar in which we learned and developed ourselves as leaders. Compass Fellowship is a national fellowship that teaches students about social entrepreneurship. This program helped spark my love for small businesses and social awareness. I learned more about my core strengths, how to develop myself in the business world, and how to start my career search.

The Fairfield University alum, student, professor or staff member that has most inspired me
My Principles of Marketing 101 professor inspired me the most. His style of teaching is directed exactly to what I will need in real world marketing. He teaches us current concepts in a fun and effective manner. He has inspired me to change my major from management to marketing. Through his classes I realized my passion for marketing and am so excited to take more marketing courses, specifically with him as my professor.

My plans after graduation
After graduation I hope to work in either Boston or New York. With strong interests in marketing and public relations I would like to work for an advertising agency or event management company. Once I establish my career I also hope to advocate for small businesses. Being from a family that owns small businesses, it is something I am very passionate about. I would either like to start my own small business or work within small business consulting.

“THANK YOU
Thank you on behalf of both myself and my family for this amazing contribution to my education at Fairfield University. These years have been incredible and filled with great experiences and even better people. I am so grateful that with your help I am able to complete my education at Fairfield, which I have truly come to consider as my home. Thank you! ”

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
The most valuable lesson so far has been to step outside of my comfort zone. Almost everything I have tried at Fairfield has led me to something great. Joining the Improv Team, something my high school self would have never done, led me to my four absolute best friends. Becoming a robotics mentor with very little knowledge in robotics led me to meet people who got me involved with the Baja competition, my most rewarding experience at Fairfield so far. For me, there is no question that Fairfield is exactly where I’m meant to be.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
The Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE) Baja Competition was one of the most fun weeks of my life. This competition consists of designing and building an all-terrain vehicle that is tested through a series of events, as well as scored on marketability of the vehicle. I was fortunate enough to be a member of Fairfield’s first Baja competition team, and being able to transfer my engineering skills from the classroom to the actual construction of a vehicle has been my most rewarding experience at Fairfield.

Honors or awards I have received
I have been a member of the Honors Program since the start of my first-year on campus and on the Dean’s List all four of my semesters so far at Fairfield. I am also a member of Alpha Sigma Nu and the Engineering Honor Society.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I have had a wonderful opportunity to get involved with multiple clubs on campus. I am a co-president of the Society of Women Engineers. I am also a member of the campus Improv Team, the Student Advisory Board of Undergraduate Admission, and a mentor for the Harding High School FIRST Robotics team. I also work as a library assistant in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library. I spent fall 2017 studying abroad in Galway, Ireland and had an amazing time!

My plans after graduation
After graduation, I plan on doing a fifth year at Fairfield to get my Masters in Mechanical Engineering. After that my dream would be to go into aerospace design or special effects technology.

"I am deeply appreciative of your support. Without it, I would not be fortunate enough to experience the many amazing things the University has to offer. I look forward to my future at Fairfield, furthering my education, and pursing my dreams."

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
By coming to Fairfield University, I have been exposed to things I’ve never experienced before, and I’ve had the opportunity to partake in things I never thought imaginable. I’ve expanded my knowledge beyond what I thought possible, and I look forward to continuing to expand my horizons.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite class thus far was my first Major course, General Psychology. I was fortunate enough to be placed in a class of other aspiring psychology majors who pushed me to expand my knowledge and speak-up in class. As well, our professor was so passionate about the topic that I found myself engaged in every lecture. It helped to reinforce that I had chosen the right major for me and that I was on the right path for my future.

Honors or awards I have received
I made the Dean’s List for the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters by maintaining a GPA above 3.5.

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
I am a member of a few different clubs at Fairfield University, including the Dance Ensemble. I have been dancing since I was three years old, so I decided to continue this passion while attending college. I love having the opportunity during my week to take a break and go to dance class. I also enjoy that I get the chance to show off my hard work at our Spring Showcase. Additionally, I have a job on campus at the RecPlex where I work as a supervisor. Becoming a New Student Leader on campus has definitely enhanced my college experience the most. I have seen myself grow tremendously within the past few months. I am much more confident in myself and my abilities, and have seen myself grow as a leader and mentor. I love working with first-year students and teaching my First Year Experience section. I have gained a whole new Fairfield family by meeting other students who I probably wouldn’t have had the chance to meet if it had not been for this program.

My plans after graduation
I am still in the process of deciding what I want to do after college. At the moment, I am considering either a career in developmental psychology, or in a field that incorporates both psychology and business.

"My internship in Leon, Nicaragua this summer was unbelievable and it would not have been possible without your support. After spending a month working with amazing individuals, I feel inspired, motivated, and excited to pursue my goals. The trip reassured me that my passion truly lies in mental health and children. I will be applying to graduate programs that focus on clinical psychology. Thank you for adding such a powerful experience to my college career at Fairfield University."

I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Leon, Nicaragua as an intern for the New Haven Leon Sister City Project. The New Haven/Leon Sister City project was founded in 1984 with the mission to promote social justice. They work to support education and sustainable development in the communities of Nicaragua. The work I was involved with was specifically focused on providing for the people living in the rural communities of Goyena and Troilo. These communities are located just 30 minutes away from the city of Leon.

Most of my time was spent with the Rural Education Program that targeted students from first grade up to sixth grade. This is an after-school program that aims to enhance the material the students have already been exposed to and to expose them to more material that will better prepare them for their next level of education. This program also offers the children one meal a day to ensure that they can focus during the program. I spent most of my time working as a teacher’s assistant, helping facilitate any activity that the teacher had planned. I helped the children with their math, reading, and writing skills. During my last two weeks in Nicaragua I facilitated an activity with the older children. I read to them the first part of a story that subtly touched upon the topic of sexism and sexual assault, then asked them to use their imagination to finish the story. I also asked for their thoughts on the part of the story that was read to them. What I learned was incredible and, I believe, a very accurate reflection of the societal norms in Nicaragua regarding the treatment of women. I hope to later investigate this further and write a report on my observations.

I also worked with the Domestic Violence Prevention Program. Once a week, around seventy women from both communities of Goyena and Troilo got together to attend a workshop hosted by an experienced sociologist on the topics of sex and gender. The aim of these continuous workshops is to break down the social norm of abuse against women. I, along with three other volunteers, were there to facilitate a few workshops and help develop activities that would engage the women that attended.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to continue my education as a mechanical engineer."

How my experience at Fairfield University has altered my overall perspective
Fairfield University has had a major impact on my life so far. From move-in day last year to helping first-year students move in this year, I have developed a massive respect and understanding for Jesuit values. It influenced me to pursue a leadership position as a Resident Assistant for the first-year students. I plan to stay involved with this position for the rest of my time here at Fairfield.

My favorite class or experience at Fairfield University
My favorite class so far at Fairfield must be the Intro to Engineering class that I took in the fall semester of freshman year. In this class, we were introduced to the different types of engineering. The final project for this class was easily the best part: design a device that would “walk on water”. Each group raced their designs in front of the whole engineering department to determine whose was the fastest.

Honors or awards I have received
Dean’s List Fall 2016, Dean’s List Spring 2017, Resident Assistant

My other interests and activities at Fairfield and how they have enhanced my college experience
Intramural Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee Club, Librarian Work Study.

My plans after graduation
While still enrolled at Fairfield, I plan to acquire an internship at a major engineering company. Hopefully they will offer me a job after my graduation.

Honors or awards I have received
I have been named to the Dean’s List for every semester. During my freshman year, I received the Coaches Award for Men’s Golf and was named to the All-New England Team. I was named captain of the Men’s Golf Team my sophomore year.

My plans after graduation
I plan on going into corporate finance upon graduation with the possibility of continuing my education by obtaining a Master’s Degree.

"I would like to say thank you for thinking about students like me. So many of my peers from high school did not take the chance to apply to prestigious schools such as Fairfield University due to their income. I was bold enough to apply. There are people willing to help dreamers achieve success! I am grateful for your act of kindness and I can only hope that someday I can be someone’s angel, just like you are for me."

My greatest learning experience at Fairfield University
My professors are more helpful than I ever could have imagined. Students are always welcome during office hours, and if the time is not convenient, you can suggest your own. Peer tutoring is another resource that helped me a lot during my freshman year. I was having a hard time with one class, so I reached out for more help. With both resources, I was able to improve my grades.

My other interests
I am a member of the Society of Women in Engineering. I truly enjoy being with other women who share the same passion as me. We have fun activities such as volunteering in neighboring public schools in order to encourage little girls to choose this career path. Often times we have quality times where we get to learn more about each other. There is always something on campus for someone or for a group to do.

The Fairfield University alum, student, professor or staff member that has most inspired me
One of my Engineering professors has inspired me the most. He truly cares about me doing my best and makes sure that I know about every single opportunity that relates somehow to my major. I do not feel judged when I tell him about how I am struggling in a certain subject. So far, he is the best advisor I have ever had in my entire life and I truly appreciate his effort to better the School of Engineering.

My plans after graduation
My plans after graduation are to continue with my education by attaining for a master’s degree. I would be very happy to work at a company where I get to better the skills that I learned at Fairfield University. I also wish to start saving for my dream school in my home country Haiti to share the successful teaching style that I acquired from Fairfield University.

My greatest learning experience at Fairfield University
Fairfield University has greatly increased my sense of ambition. I have learned that it is possible to achieve anything you want, but it truly depends on how much effort you are willing to put forth. Knowing this will allow me to move forward in life with the awareness that nothing is out of reach if I make it my priority.

"Your heartwarming generosity has provided me with the opportunity to continue my studies and engagement at Fairfield University and to discover in greater depth my purpose in life in the context of the Jesuit tradition. Truly, thank you for your support!"

My greatest learning experience at Fairfield University
Undoubtedly, my greatest learning experiences at Fairfield is attributed to the Ten Week Ignatian Encounter I participated in as well as my role as a Resident Assistant in the Ignatian Residential College. The Ignatian Encounter was instrumental in the growth of my faith and clarified, for me, how the Jesuit values may be incorporated into the others spheres of my life such as academics, community service, and personal relationships. My experience as a Resident Assistant has taught me the true value and beauty of servant leadership and how that translates to the betterment of our local community and, in turn, the global community.

The Fairfield University alum, student, professor or staff member that has most inspired me
The professors at Fairfield University challenge students to think critically beyond the textbook and to consider the practicality and purpose of the material being studied. For example, in the Systems Analysis & Design course, our class learned how properly engage with a client to determine their needs and that, in short, interpersonal relationships are just as important as the technical skills required. My economics teacher is truly inspiring because he is an economist of both theory and action. In addition to teaching us about the economic development of developing nations from the textbook, he also shared his experience working with communities in developing nations to improve their overall quality of life.

My plans after graduation
Following graduation, my goal is to begin a career in the information technology industry focusing on areas such as process reengineering, database management, and information security. I hope that my contribution in this sector will be beneficial to both the organization I work with and society at large.

“Words cannot express how thankful I am for your generous investment toward my education at Fairfield University. Your kindness has afforded me another opportunity to educate myself, enjoy my college experience, and work toward a career I’m passionate about. Without your help, I would be unable to attend this phenomenal school. Thank you.”

What I most enjoy about Fairfield University
I love Fairfield for its wide array of opportunities. Fairfield prepares its students to become successful, diverse members of society through its academic core and emphasis on the Jesuit values. In addition, Fairfield has an extensive alumni network, perfect for current students to build up their connections in hopes of landing that big job in the city after graduation. However, despite all the “big” opportunities Fairfield affords its students, campus still has a “small,” tight-knit community feel.

My other interests and how they have enhanced my experience at Fairfield
I partake in multiple intramural sports with my friends on campus. I am also an active member of Theatre Fairfield, the drama program on campus, as a member of the technical crew. In addition, I also serve on the marketing committee for Fairfield University’s chapter of the Wounded Warrior Project.

My plans after graduation

My favorite place on campus is the Barone Campus Center because there is so much to do there. It is also a place where you can relax, do homework, or attend school sponsored events. Most importantly, the Barone Campus Center has endless resources for students, such as the Academic Career and Development Center, the Office of Diversity, the StagStore, the Dining Hall, etc.

My other interests
My other interests at Fairfield University include playing for sports for different teams. You have inspired me to help people with financial need that want to attend college like myself when I have a steady job in the future."

My greatest learning experience at Fairfield University
My greatest learning experience at Fairfield is attending a service trip for two years in a row with an organization called Simply Smiles, offered through the University's Center for Faith and Public Life. In this week we ran a summer camp for kids and help in the process of building homes for Native American families in the La Plant reservation. This experience provided me with the ability to think critically, compassionately, and deeper when it comes to marketing. Forming such a meaningful relationship with the residents of La Plant, I came to understand that I don’t want to be just part of the corporate world. Instead I came to understand that I want to use my marketing major for causes that are more meaningful than the common transactional system. I realized that I want to become part of a company who spreads awareness on social problems and environmental sustainability.

My other interests
My interests are the humanities, arts, marketing and psychology. I have volunteer for Simply Smiles in South Dakota. I also have an internship at a cosmetic company in Westport called Faces Beautiful where I have worked to launch a new product. I am also currently in the Marketing Club, where I get guidance and help for my career.

The Fairfield University alum, student, professor or staff member that has most inspired me
I have been most inspired by one of my management professors. He strives to teach beyond textbooks, and spends all semester trying to make us understand that we must approach any field of business in a compassionate and sustainable level. Therefore we must learn to defy societal as well as business norms, and learn to treat people and the environment kindly.

My plans after graduation
After I graduate, I am considering working in New York City as part of a marketing creative team, or moving to California to find a job while also trying to be part of a non-profit organization that will allow me to use my new and acquired hunger for helping others.

Fairfield University continuously challenges the students, so there is always room for improvement, pushing me to study harder and manage my time more productively.

My favorite course or teacher
My favorite course at Fairfield University is Pathophysiology and Pharmacology. I learned essential information needed to succeed in my nursing career, making me more confident for my clinicals.

My other interests and how they have enhanced my experience at Fairfield
After the death of my best friend in high school, I became more spiritual so I could try to comprehend the concept of death. I appreciate that Fairfield provides spiritual events for its students.
