Allen Society

Fr. Allen, S.J., talks with Gregory Burke '12 about the significance of his time at Fairfield

Fairfield is pleased to introduce the formation of the Charles H. Allen, S.J. Society.

The Allen Society celebrates Fairfield alumni, parents and friends who make a financial gift for two or more consecutive years.

It consists of thousands of Fairfield alumni, parents and friends who give to University priorities, student programs, athletics and more. The impact of your gifts, combined with those of others, help Fairfield accomplish its most important mission - to educate men and women for others.

This important donor recognition society has been named in honor of Fr. Allen, S.J., University Chaplain and Special Assistant to the President. As many of you know and have experienced firsthand, Fr. Allen has been a steadfast presence in the Fairfield University and Prep communities since he first arrived in 1977.

A Boston native, Father Allen joined the Jesuits at age 17 in order to see the world. And see the world he did – his Jesuit travels took him to North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa all before he arrived, as he likes to say, “in the closest I will ever come to the Garden of Eden: Fairfield, Connecticut.”

For more than three decades at Fairfield University and Fairfield Prep, Fr. Allen is one of the most known and beloved faces on campus. Known for his intelligence, humor, warmth and his illuminating homilies, Fr. Allen serves as a great inspiration to students, alumni and the community both on and off campus. Well-loved, and he notes, well-fed, by scores of alumni over the years, his calendar is full of events, including presiding at hundreds of weddings, baptisms and the passing of our loved ones. His spoken word enriches the lives of so many, in whatever capacity he serves.

“I am so humbled and proud to have my name as part of this new loyalty program,” Fr. Allen says with appreciation. “It is an honor to be part of Fairfield University, and in some small way, be of service to this University.”

Fairfield University has such loyal and generous alumni, parents and friends. Thank you again for your loyalty to Fairfield University.
