Our Policy

Social media is a great way to communicate with your target audience. However, as more and more people are using social media as a main channel, it can begin to work against you if not done strategically. It is critical for any organization to have a set of guidelines that provide best practices across the varying social media channels. The guidelines also include recommendations for avoiding potential consequences if not used appropriately. We are in the process of developing an exciting new social media hub that will provide a central location to attract more followers, showcase more of what we offer to a wider audience, and ensure we represent Fairfield University in an appropriate, trustworthy and transparent way. Additional hub advantages:

  1. To allow people to easily and quickly find the University's top social media accounts
  2. To inform our audience of our different accounts
  3. To inform followers about current hashtag campaigns
  4. To create one spot to check out the latest post from all of our accounts
  5. To inform staff/faculty of our social media handbook

The Marketing & Communications Division oversees the University's official presence on Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat, Flickr, Pinterest, YouTube and Instagram. Guidelines will be revised or updated as new social media platforms emerge, best practices evolve, or new concerns arise.
