Jazz, Rock & Blues Workshop - Adult Music Immersion Weekend
Dates: Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20, 2008
Brian Torff, a renowned bassist, composer and Music Program Director at Fairfield University will be conducting this intensive jazz workshop designed to allow adult students to learn new performance techniques in a relaxed setting. Students will interact, perform and record with professional musicians. There is a requirement of five years or more on your instrument. For more information, click here.
Jazz Workshop - Middle School, High School, College-age Day Program
Tentative dates: Monday-Friday, July 7-11, 2008; July 14-18, 2008; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The 2008 Summer Jazz Workshop, sponsored by University College at Fairfield University, offers middle school and high school student instrumentalists and vocalists an intensive 5 or 10-day jazz program. The workshop is led by renowned bassist and composer, Brian Torff, Music Program Director at Fairfield University. Participants must have at least two years' instrument or vocal experience and have a basic music reading ability.
Summer Jazz Workshop combines jazz instruction, improvisation and theory. Students will perform in jazz ensembles and attend classes and workshops in jazz improvisation, theory, rhythm and world music, history of jazz, and jazz arranging and composition. On Friday, July 11 and Friday, July 18, at the culmination of their Jazz Workshop experience, the students will perform in concert at the Gonzaga Hall auditorium.
