Credit Course Login information

Many credit, online courses use WebCT. For instructions about how your particular course will be taught online, check your StagWeb e-mail for messages from your professor, the week prior to the course start date. Your professor's e-mail will contain instructions for how to login and start your course.

If you do not have a StagWeb account, please click here for instructions on opening a StagWeb account.

If your course is in WebCT, please follow the directions below to adjust your browser settings. On the StagWeb homepage, you will find a link to WebCT under "Fairfield Bookmarks," or you can access the URL directly at http://webct.fairfield.edu:8900

WebCT Instructions

Prerequisites

  • For WebCT access, you need to use:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer: version 5.0 to 6.0 except Version 5.5 Service Pack 1
  • Netscape Navigator: 4.76 and 6.2.1 (PC & Mac)
  • Note to AOL Users: You will need AOL 4.0 or higher. AOL's browser is not compatible with WebCT so you will need to connect through AOL, minimize the AOL client to maintain the connection and use one of the required browsers outside of the AOL client.

WebCT Online Resources

There is an online Help section located within each course. Click on "Help" in the menu bar to activate.

Adjust Browser Settings

Instructions

Netscape Communicator (Navigator 4.05 and higher
  • Select Edit ® Preferences.
  • Select Advanced.
  • Make sure the Enable Java and Enable Java Script boxes are checked.
  • Select "Accept All Cookies"

Internet Explorer 4.0 and higher
  • Click OK.
  • Select Tools ® Internet Options.
  • Select the Advanced tab.
  • Locate Microsoft VM.
  • Make sure the Java console enabled and Java logging enabled boxes are checked.
  • Click OK.
  • Restart your computer if you checked the Java console enabled box.

Set the cache to always reload a page

Netscape Communicator (Navigator 4.05 and higher
  • Select Edit ® Preferences.
  • Click the + sign next to Advanced to see more options.
  • Select Cache.
  • Select the Every Time radio button at the bottom.
  • Click OK.

Internet Explorer 4.0 and higher
  • Select Tools ® Internet Options.
  • Select the General tab.
  • Select Settings from Temporary Internet Files.
  • Select the Every Visit to the Page radio button.
  • Click OK.
