About Fairfield University's Financial Planners Program
Fairfield's program for financial planners has been established to meet the need for professionals appropriately trained to assist clients in planning for present and future financial security. The program is designed for people working in the areas of financial planning, insurance, banking, investments, accounting, and law as well as other professionals interested in learning more about the financial planning process. The curriculum is designed to meet and exceed the criteria set by the Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards, Inc. The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification is the best-known certification in the financial planning community. The Fairfield University program has been registered with the Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards, Inc. as acceptable education for the CFP® Certification Examination. Students who complete the six courses may sit for the two-day CFP® Certification Examination.
"Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and federally registered CFP (with flame logo) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete the CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements."
"Fairfield University does not certify individuals to use the CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and CFP® certification marks. CFP® certification is granted solely by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to individuals who, in addition to completing and educational requirement such as this CFP Board-Registered Program, have met ethics, experience and examination requirements."
Fairfield University awards a Certificate in Financial Planning upon completion of the six required courses in the financial planning program. Students must earn a letter grade of "C" or better in each course to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination and to receive the Fairfield University Certificate in Financial Planning.
